Description
Honestly I'm just excited to have a project like this around halloween...well I would do it anytime of year but it just feels right with October creeping up on us. Video of the repousse involved!: douglaspryor.com/blog/2014/10/β¦Related content

If you send me a finished specimen, I'll give you proper pics to prove the theory

lol Have 8 grand laying around you don't need? It's not impossible to do in 410. I'd just need to build a few different tools, mainly a better chisel set that could handle 410 a little eaiser

yeah, i know the feeling. i had to reface my fluting stake and a couple of my hammers after the last set i made, and that was only 18g. really nice once you bring it to a 46 rockwell, but a pain in the ass to anneal and you basically have to work it cold.
tho... i cant do nearly what you do with chasing and repousse,Β

Yeah I forge a lot of my chisels out of old screw drivers and crowbars and every once in a while someone asks me to work in something really tough and it'll mess them up, but otherwise they hold up great
Anyone can do what I do, it just takes practice and patience. Keep at it man!

I need it. I've wanted a suit of armor like this since I saw Underworld: RISE OF THE LYCANS where Viktor's guard have armor similar.

Yeah skeleton armour is pretty popular! It's got a great look to it!

Nah It's got a lot of work still to have done. It has a bunch of swirling tortured souls being repoussed into the belly. Then onto the backplate with a complete spine shaped in.

Did you make this from sheetmetal, or from a pre-existing piece of armor?

That's all hammered out by hand buddy I took a bunch pictures of the breastplate "in the works." If you want to see it you can find it here: douglaspryor.com/blog/2014/10/β¦

I bow down before you my friend!
Looks very good!
I'm an apprentice Blacksmith, and hammering out pieces of armor is something we're planning to try out some day, but Β having good inspiration is always very nice

Lol please don't bow, just stand up and run along side
What kind of blacksmithing are you doing? Who/where are you apprenticing with?

It varies from classical to somewhat more modern. At the moment I am working on refurbishing a mobile smithy from 1940, but apart from that I mostly make small items such as amulets, or random pieces my master wants me to make.
I'm working with Roodbaert Smederij, in the Netherlands. I doubt it will ring any bells with you though

Who knows, we might run into each other some day. If that happens, I'd love to see your work IRL
