Description Finally the examns and all other school assignments have passed and now I have the option to stick more time in my personal digital art!

I called this little guy shellhead. The shell on his head is actually what used to be his egg. I can already hear you guys think: "But I can't see any reproducing tools on this guy." That's because shellheads don't reproduce.
When shellheads die, their family and friends, collect materials to recreate an eggshell around it's body connected to the part which forms the "hat". The curve on the top of it's hat is used to fold the egg around the branches of a tree, keeping it suspended and therefor safe from certain predators.
After about a month the egg hatches, and the shellhead appears once again from it. Due to the new egg that was connected to it, the form of it's hat will be slightly different and the creature once again becomes curious and confused like a newborn child.
Nobody knows what causes this amazing rebirth. Some say it has to be hidden in their "egghat", others say it's the essence that makes their insides glow. Because they are a very rare sight in these endlessly stretching woods, not much is known about them

In this scene a shellhead appears to have found a small, lit lantern. The red flowers that grow next to it only grow in permanently lit up places. Often called Glowflowers, because permanently lit up places can only exist near a permanent lightsource, which in most cases are some of the many naturally glowing plants that are currently documented. The fact that these flowers are fully grown, means that the lantern must have been lit up for at least a month. Who knows what could be inside of it?
-----------------------------

It's been half a year since I've made something digital that wasn't an assignment. In the mean time I did learn a lot of new things considering digital painting, mostly color wise. I think the colors and the shading are a big improvement when you look at "The Skull Collector".

The Shellhead itself was actually made shortly after "The Skull Collector", but now I finally had the time to give it a decent background.

This took quite some time to make and quite a lot of text to explain as well. But I'm proud of how it turned out!

I hope you like it too!
