Progressions of a Comic Book #5 By: Tim Kelly

Page 1- Layout

I am going to show this progression as it actually happened. i am going to be honest with how this comic comes together.
whether that be dissapointing or not.

So, like i said in the last section, this page came together after i drew what i had thought was the first page. But then decided the comic needed a new first page. Hence this.

I call this a layout because it is not totally tightened up with the inks. plus the words and sound FX are just kinda placeholders for the actual finished words and what not.

So, before i started drawing i thought it would be annoying to draw both characters and i had a layout design with Lucy in mind anyway. I wanted her to have the speaker on her arm. (To play the obnoxious music from)
cause really, what more hardcore than that? lot's of things, but so what. i like it.
I wanted Plus to be annoying with the music so he was originally answering with "Yeah, but--" and Lucy would cut him off with the Comic Title.
But i ended up not liking that, to much to accept for a first page. Plus it didn't flow in my mind.
I mainly had fun with the arm in this one, but its still not done, and i plan to go crazy on it.

Also, with her being right there, in that pose, i feel like it kinda sets a mood..... and shows the main character.

While doing this page, i decide that the worming thing we saw last page was kinda a lame thing to hunt. So i decide that the wormy thing which i named a "Screech" would just be the "trap" so to speak.
