Description
So I did a painting study of a picture I got off of this pintrist account. Unfortunately I cant find it again, but if your interested it may be somewhere I missed here. Either way this account has lots of great ref! www.pinterest.com/katiepf/arms… I changed the colors and tried to push the contrast. I created some light and tried to replicate how it would really fall over the knight in real life. I really like James gurneys "Astronaut" painting,www.google.co.jp/search?q=jame…
so I was going for lighting similar to that. I really enjoyed painting this guy.

The painting of Gurney is actually called "Asteroid Miner". In his book "Color and Light" he calls this type of lighting "Contre-jour lighting". A French term, meaning something like "against the day (-light)", i.e. a strong light coming from behind the subject.
You use a stronger secondary source of light than Gurney did, but I think this helps to show the shine of the armor material. All in all I like your painting a lot!
