This is such areally cool idea and I think Neil would be smiling if he could see this. I love the little homages you included and this duck will definently go "To Infinity and Beyond". Great job, this just made me so happy.

Thank you for your kind words. They mean a lot, and I'm glad my homages made you happy.
PS. I grew up on the English version of Cardcaptor Sakura. Loved that show.

Donald Lightyear! This is really a nice mention of Toy Story ^_^ I like especially your shading skills, they are very natural despite they are set in a cartoon world! Great job!

I recognized the Buzz Lightyear homage immediately! It was a very clever idea to combine the reference-- it kind of unites the characters who were with Disney from the very beginning with the more contemporary features, and shows that it's all one big family of characters. You also did a really terrific job on the flames emanating from the rocket

Thank you so much.
I really like treating Disney characters as one big family whenever I get around to drawing them, because to me, that's how they are. Some are younger, some are older, but that doesn't matter. You have younger and older siblings, cousins, parents and so on in real life, so why not in the animated universe too?

Thank you so much. I saw Donald in his spacesuit and instantly thought, "Buzz." Needless to say, Tim Allen would be proud.
(And he certainly will, but the people who admired him will keep his memory alive.

Such a fun creative idea and Donald has not been used nearly enough for this contest! Great job--I especially love your rocket engine flare. That looks really neat. Finally you have an amazing choice for inspiration and why you chose this piece in particular. Great work!

I agree, but it's still amazing to see what everyone else has been bringing to the table just the same.
And thank you for your wonderful, thoughtful compliments. I was pretty proud of the engine flair, and only hope to continue improving my techniques.
I wonder if Mr. Armstrong would be proud.

Ooo, I really like this one! We don't get too many Mickey and Donald entries so it's always a treat.
It's neat how you colored him like Buzz Lightyear. Great homage.

Thank you. I love Donald and Mickey so it's always a tragedy that they don't get more attention.
And Buzz Lightyear is made of awesome, infinity, and beyond, so by that logic, there's no way I can lose.

Groovy. Have you tried coloring the lines?
With Photoshop there is a simple way to do it that I just learned 2 weeks ago.
It blew my mind how simple it is.

Tinker-Jet In reply to jaredjlee [2014-11-25 18:48:13 +0000 UTC]
I do colour the lines for things like pony art, and when I want the line art to have a better look, but I find it becomes something of a chore having to juggle the layers around, so I only do it sometimes.
Though with that said, I have to give Photoshop full credit for being user-friendly like that. The ability to keep colours within the confines of other colours has made it easier for me to make pretty (albeit simple) backgrounds.
