Peltasts are a pilot/WSO designation common across the major military powers of the Great Compass, specializing in advance movement through the formation-based fleet combat favoured in the era.

The saffron uniform suit and red headwear, derived in part from Terran imperial jumpsuits, does not differ much across the different branches of Communion armed forces. Regulations permit a number of headwear variations such as chaperons, berets, and the turban seen here, even within the same unit at the quartermasters' discretion.
