A Savitari hiker on a frontier world getting ready to leave the pit city and head out into the countryside. Though he is well equipped for the trek, the leopard cannot change her spots - nor the tanuki his stomach - and he spoils himself with something particularly sugary to put some spring in his step.

Further away from the Savitari heart worlds pure biotechnology generally gives way to cybernetic tools rather than fully organic tailored organisms. The tanuki wears a metal-encapsulated survival kit that can pre-digest poisonous or otherwise inedible substances, but other items, such as his clothing and the rest of his backpack, are completely inanimate.
