just play around with the layer effects e.g. screen and you get some cool looking colors ^u^

usually I use pencil for the outline and color it in photoshop.
I also mix in some texture that i scan or take pictures of.

i take a pic of a texture import it into the drawing and change the layer into 'overlay'
