I really miss cardinals. One of those things I didn't realize I missed until I flew back to WV for Christmas. Then I saw the little flashes of red everywhere and suddenly realized we don't have those in Washington! Thanks for letting me have a little piece of home to gaze at.

You're welcome. Glad you made it back for a visit. This year, the cardinals and blue jays mostly hide in the woods until I put out the peanuts. I have a huge red shouldered hawk looming near the feeders!

Thanks, Addam. I didn't see the the chickadee and goldfinch in the background until I started editing. Even the little red house finch pales in comparison. Stopping down 2/3 really helps with the birdies in the snow.

Beautiful picture. The sight of a bright red cardinal (and family) amid the snow always cheers me.
It's like Mother Nature is reminding us of the bright flowers that we'll see in spring, and encouraging us to just keep shoveling until then..
