I agree the sparkling is a little ridiculous, but how many times have we seen vampires blow up in the sun? Probably more than enough. So what's wrong with a little imagination?
Besides, the books and movies don't revolve around the vampires' ability to glitter, so why bash the books, movies, and the author just because there's one detail you find stupid?

I actually just watched the movie for the first time and was ridiculously bored! My friends are making me go and see the new abomination tomorrow and I'm pretty sure I'm going to fall asleep unless something blows up or you know.. they learn to act.

I totally agree with ya there! :U I can't stand Twilight....well mainly the Twitards anyway. D| I mean in my opinion, I'm perfectly fine with those who actually enjoy reading the books or watch the movie, just as long as they keep it to themselves and don't try to chug it down people's throats.

If you want to get technical, Dracula (which most vampries are based off in part, though not the first) was only just weakened by the sunlight.

Ha ha, interesting, though as an writer and artist, I hate this argument. It's so simple-minded. With all the cheesy re-hashes and exact uses of the same story, people get upset when someone puts a little imagination and originality to a FICTIONAL character.
It uses the original myth and simply makes its own universe where the truth is not what you expect. I like that. Not everything in the story is perfect, but I even read and enjoyed it. People in the demographic it was written for may obsess over it, but what's wrong with allowing someone to enjoy something?
But other than that, vampires don't sparkle...they don't necessarily do ANYTHING, as they've never been proven real now have they? They do whatever someone wants in a particular universe.

Ha ha, well I understand getting upset with how ridiculous some people take their obsessive love with the fandom, but I just don't think it's worth fighting someone over. I dunno. To each there own. Of course, it's not really something you have to worry about yet since you're young enough. Psychologically, you're still in that young mindset where everyone does bicker over there interests. It's just how Harry Potter was when I was in High School. Those who liked it did. Those who didn't talked about how it was the worst ever. After awhile the hype faded, and both sides eased. The same thing will happen with the Twilight books someday. It'll all pass.

Yeah, the obsessions of the human mind can be a dark place. (Or in the case of some it can just be annoying, but usually said people are generally annoying anyway, no matter what they're going on about.)
The level to what the Twilight group has taken their obsession is definitely beyond ridiculous. I've read about those who've formed basically a religion about it. Of course, eventually yeah the hype will fade. The general lifespan of large hype like this is about 1-2 years once it's peaked, and I believe it peaked around 4-5 months after the movie. Either way, they're putting all the movies out quick so it should be done a year from now either way. Hang in there.
