Some people think their vampires because they drink blood. I know for a fact that there are some people in history that drank human blood because the felt it would give them a feirce image or they would look youthful. Twilight is an insult to the books about real vampires.

Yay, Twiligtht hate! However, vampires don't nessessarily die in the sunlight. That's more of a modern, Hollywood inspired view. Dracula just lost any powers he had in the sunlight. The sparkling, though, is just ridiculous. While Smeyer did give us a reason for it (To attract prey), meyerpires have all sorts of adaptations for that. No animal gets it all.
That reminds me. How the hell did they evolve that way? Being apperently science based, and all xD

lol, i like twilight but i'll never get over the whole 'sparkly vampire' thing, i mean really?! as you said about vampires burning/exploding in sun light is a fact! but if stephenie meyer really wanted to make her vampires more 'original' she could of made them, i donno, turn completley and utterly hideous in sunlight! e.g. growing huge pointy scales and a tail!
