Believe me, I don't like twilight very much, I read it to snark at with my friends, but I truly think that since vampires aren't real, Stephanie Meyer has the right to take a different spin on what vampires *could*be if they were actually real. So, if True Blood can say that vampires cry blood, then Twilight can say that vampires glitter in the sun. After all, no-one has a copyright on vampires so they are basically whomever's to put their own creative ideas to use upon.

First of all, there was absolutely no need to use the word 'gay' as a putdown there. Are you referring to the fact that some people think of Edward's sparkling as feminine? Or just because you think 'gay' is something bad? Because my friends and I don't like being compared to something you think is wrong and bad.
Anyway, this is what I can comprehend from your comment:

So what you appear to be saying here is that by inventing her own take on a mythical creature, she made it so that millions of people who prefer the more traditional vampires can no longer enjoy this type of fiction. That's definitely not true. I'm an Anne Rice fan and think that Twilight is quite silly - but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy vampires just because one author changed them for one series.

I don't even know what you mean. What I get from this is 'I understand that the author had a dream of writing the book, but she didn't have to announce that a vampire caused the dream'. What, like she should keep it a secret or something? 'I wrote this vampire book, but I can't tell you the mythical creature that inspired me to write it!'

So what I'm getting from this is that you're saying, 'this series is homosexual or aimed at that demographic,' OR 'this series is happy and cheerful, far too so for my tastes.'
Then, 'though vampires may not be real, in my opinion it is still wrong for the author to write about them in the manner she has. She should not be using her rights, because I do not like her writing and thus she should not write.'

you are twisting my words completely around! i'm just saying that a guy sparkling IS feminine, and it seems wrong for a vampire (normally thought of as a very masculin, dark creature) to sparkle! and the part about the dream: stephenie meyer had a dream about some guy sparkling in the sunlight, or something, and decided to write a book based on that dream. i'm just saying that it seems wrong to make that be about vampires. i'm not saying she can't, i'm just saying that she ruined my picture of vampires. and if you have a problem with that, you can stick it up your *ss! you have your opinion and i have mine

about the masculin: i wasn't thinking about the females at the time, so i take responsibility for that one, but they ARE normaly thought of as dark creatures. they're the undead! and i'm not saying that she completely ruined my oicture of vampires, but i am saying that her books were very popular, and manypeople now think of sparkling associated with vampires, which i think isn't right. i don't know you're opinion, but that's mine. Vampire's Shouldn't Sparkle. That's just what i'm saying
