You definately do look like Wolverine!
I love your pastel pieces, they are so effin cool.
(To me)It is an interesting mix between a realistic and charicature/cartoonish.
Would you call it either of those?, or are you more the type to say?- "Hey, I just draw how I draw man."

"hey, i just draw how i draw maan." Nah, i like to exaggerate. Making shit ultra realistic and just like a photo isn't fun to me, a camera does a pretty good job of that. So when i can, i like to twist it.

PASTELS?!?! WTF??!?! *BEATS THE SHIT OUT OF HIMSELF WITH BRICKS AND THEN EATS ALL HIS PASTELS (the soft ones of course, they probably taste better)*
man...that's crazy...did you use pastel sticks or pencils?
anyways, great job

haha, pastel sticks/nubs, the soft ones are the best. Don't eat! they are metallic, they'll make your poo heavy.

Oil or chalk pastels? Sorry...I'm just curious because that's my nest assignment, chalk pastels. This is just an inspiration.

TinyPEN15 In reply to chickendog [2006-09-23 20:12:09 +0000 UTC]
oh definately chalk. Oil's a chunky, great for layering, but they don't give it that soft touch.

it's a piece that you can't help but continue to stare into it and view all the details.

That is really, really amazing. Wonderful color work and depiction of details and depth without loosing the brushwork feel. I am decidedly impressed by the whole thing!

Your welcome. I've just started using soft pastels in my most recent pieces and now I'm even more impressed. They're tricky...

patience! they take some getting used to, but just like other mediums, you'll either grow to hate or love them

heh, i thought it was a little too obvious, xmassy, so i muted the green, i think it made it have more of a scary atmosphere

haha, well, the big thing with pastels is the paper you have. If you use Reeves BFK, you can layer it and create some cool effects

oh okay, i found if i put pastel over another pastel (with whatever paper i was using) it just smudged together like shit. ill try and get some better paper perhaps!
