I've thought of an idea where Sherlock really does die but John manages to save him. Unfortunately, Sherlock ends up with brain damage from the fall and he has to relearn how to do even the most basic things and John takes care of Sherlock. This also about the time John meets Mary and falls in love with her and she also ends loving Sherlock and helps John take care of Sherlock. I think I have a bit of soft spot for hurt/comfort.

You don't have to apologize! I understand, it's really good idea, because without his brain Sherlock is just a man and John isn't gay. But (if you let me) this can end with semi happy end. Because John had left Sherlock when he was sick, but what if one day Sherlock started to get better? And what if John will find out? He can try go back to Sherlock - he miss his friend - but does Sherlock want John back?
