HOOHOOHOHOOO! I love makin' these Cuphead FC's! And this one's definitely among my faves! Mostly because the story behind this is well...unexpectedly dark.In my mind, this gal's another debtor to the Devil. But one that she was manipulated into making, while being too young to know the consequences of her choices. And ultimately...a debtor that Cuphead and Mugman REALLY don't wanna fight, and would rather leave alone. This was the point where they tried to spare their target...except the Devil warned them, bad things would happen. VERY bad things. More than just the two of their souls in Inkwell Hell.Ā
By ol' Scratch's logic, Inkwell Isle can continue to rest in peace. After all...it's just one girl's soul. And one soul doesn't matter, right?
SO, via Shmup level, they did what they had to do. Except the girl's bed continuously protected her from fire. The girl herself was quite adept at using a pillow as a weapon. Her stuffed bear turned into a monster with an energy-shooting button eye. And when she actually goes to sleep, dreams come true! Literally!
Needless to say, they refused to put a bullet in the girl herself, opting only to disarm her. But still...collecting her Soul Contract? Made them feel like the worst garbage that ever lived.
Why do you think in the good ending, they welched on their offer? What they were doing was questionable at best. But they're NOT sending an innocent girl to Inkwell Hell. And they'd kick the Devil's ass for even asking them to do it in the first place!

When I heard "Sleepy Susie", I was thinking it would be more like a sheep-girl who's attacks are more like tossing and turning in her sleep or something. The dream clouds could produce the bullets to make it a bullet hell. This still definitely works, it's simply not what I was expecting. Great ideas though. Especially the bear.

Well, I actually hadn't really developed her fight all that much, so I think that actually might be stuff that you'd see in her boss fight!Ā
Dream clouds that produce teeth projectiles (i.e. dreams about teeth falling out). Sheep with numbers printed on them bounding across the screen (i.e. counting sheep). The pillow she wields (i.e. pillow fight). Not to mention, her bed has stalk-eyes and can sprout a third pair of legs (i.e. bed bug).Ā
Kinda tried to stick to a theme about sleeping and dreaming! Hope it makes a bit more sense.

I didn't even think of those! That's a great idea! Using literal interpretations of common phrases is totally the sort of thing you'd find in Cuphead boss battles.
