Yeah, sorry if the trees and fog came out reeeal wonky this time!
I guess my main area of focus was the two of these characters, namely Baena and Ingrid (belongs to ) because yes!This is truly what she looks like. And what she's truly good at, all according to different facets of the Nixie myth, and related terms!
- Can shapeshift into various forms, like that of a pretty young girl (Nixie)
- Is supernaturally talented at playing the violin, and attracts an audience (Nokken)
- Appears like a sort of water-wyrm that lives in lakes (Knucker).

Ingrid is...all of these things combined into one individual. One who actually prefers to live her life alone, in solitude at a lake she's staked for herself in the Heavenly Kingdom.
Ever since she had effectively been exiled from the Lake Kingdom due to the Nessie Scare, this was all she had left to call home. And for so long...she had known people as being petty, dishonest, selfish, hedonistic, abusive, ignorant...perhaps it is simply her own experiences with the Lake Kingdom's residents. After all, that's why people say, "It's better to take a vacation in the Lake Kingdom than to LIVE there."
She can't bring herself to trust people. She almost thought she could place her trust in the Birdfolk, but then some major scare about a "Missing Egg" of sorts has far too many Birdfolk shouting about a heretic! So...she retracted her coming-out, and kept to herself and her lake once more.
...at least...until she came into the picture.

Baena.
Some unaccompanied, tall, and incredibly well-endowed...whatever she was, dragon lady? Unlikely. Whatever she was, she had piqued Ingrid's attention for a bit, before realizing that she'd been discovered. And politely asked Baena to leave.
Baena, not wanting to disturb her peace, did agree to oblige! But well...she just really wanted to hear her play at least one more time. She came late, when she was already finishing her piece, but what little she did hear of it was pure beauty!
Just a little more music...
...and so, Ingrid agreed and obliged. Somehow finding that she rather enjoyed Baena's visit!

OMIGOSH, just realized that, while talking about the characters [see earlier comment above], I never told you my thoughts on the atmosphere on display here!
So, the lake itself? VERY nicely crafted. Even if we're only seeing a small portion of it, the water's edge is more than enough to provide us with a pleasant representative visual.
As for the trees and fog, I understand your frustrations on the matter, though they still come off as fitting to the scenery. At least they do in MY opinion, and feel like that much should count for SOMETHING.

I think she had been VERY highly insecure about revealing her serpentine form, because this is the same form that caused the Lake Kingdom to oust her from her home. Y'know, because of the "Nessie Scare".
But perhaps...maybe more than one person might regard that form as cute instead of evil-looking?

- Ingrid disguising herself as a pet fish so Baena can take her to school.
- Ingrid finally becoming a student on Baena's suggestion.
- The time when they share their first kiss at the annual winter ball.
And just to make it worth it, a "pool party" episode by Ingrid's lake. Featuring, *ahem*...

...cuz Baena thought it'd be fitting since she's "sweet as a watermelon". And not for the obvious reasons. XD

A few edits I have to add, actually:
-The one who suggests Ingrid introduce herself to more of the Empyrean students [discretely, while giving the same advice to Baena] is Unnamed Sage Advice Teacher. (www.deviantart.com/comments/1/… ) Though maybe Baena herself DID specifically encourage her to join the Academy later on, after becoming friends with enough other students.
- Baena and Ingrid actually share their first kiss[es] right after the latter confesses her feelings for the former (www.deviantart.com/comments/1/… ), though they DO share further kisses at the school dance, AND their moonlit private dance/campout at her lake afterwards. ^w^

Also...the unnamed Professor is unnamed no more. It's ANOTHER super old Eccentrix OC (that was almost never used) making a return!
Won't say who it is yet exactly. But I WILL say he's a Living Toy who's quite old, having seen so many children grow up under his care. And is now teaching to ensure them a successful future.
