DISCLAIMER: I got the design from this pic by Or as he's known on YouTube, TREY the Explainer. I highly recommend giving his stuff a watch! :> www.youtube.com/c/TREYtheExpla… And hope it's cool that I drew this design in my style! And also Pieter belongs to !
-----------------------------------
This incredibly strange day had simply started off with Pieter looking for tracks.
Pieter prided himself on being a highly accomplished hunter who quickly learned the local fauna of the land. And here, he knew this was the time of year when Questing Beasts lumbered into the forests to look for foliage, able to be followed by either their tracks, droppings, or their very loud booming calls. If he got lucky, he may even bag a Grizzlyhawk stalking the herd as well!
However...he happened upon tracks from no beast he'd ever seen before. These looked more like giant fingerprints, paired together. And the tracks insinuated that whatever made them was quadrupedal. Out of curiosity he followed.
------------------------------------
Then, he got his answer.
"H-huh...what IS that thing...?"
An unspeakably bizarre...thing. An elephant-sized beast walking on legs that looked more like enormous, hypertrophied fingers. It seemed to have remnants of WINGS, as if this thing's ancestors once flew. Its mouth lined with peg-like teeth that served to help it strip ferns and pine needles off their branches, grazing on them as though it had been part of the ecosystem the whole time. The more he looked at it, the more confused, unnerved yet engrossed he became, unable to take his eyes off of it.
Did another Kingdom have a beast like this? Because he'd know if something this big lived here before!
--------------------------------------
Pieter drew his arrow hesitantly, weighing his options in his head. What does one even DO with this kind of surreal, one-of-a-kind creature?
Does he just kill it and keep it as a unique trophy? No...that'd be incredibly wasteful. And he'd still have doubters.
What if he kills it and donates it to science? No. They'd probably be angry at him for not letting it live to see its behavior.
Should he capture it alive and sell it to a collection? Probably not. It'd probably die due to negligence. What a waste that would be.
How about capture it alive and donate it to science? Quite likely! They're smart, they can figure out what's going on with it. Eventually. For now though?
He can afford to observe it for a little while longer.
