How did you do thia? Was the paper black already?

I. I painted the whole paper blue ( it was Paynes gray watercolor)
II. I dripped water where I wanted it to be more light (The leaves) before the blue paint was dry
III.Had a lot of salt in the wet paint. (fine and coarse salt)
IV.Used gouache to built up the lighter parts.

What I especially adore about your paintings is that you portray trees like some artists portray human faces. Each is unique, its own and individual. Your trees aren't just a generic oak, birch, pine etc., but they are very alive, I can feel their personality and emotions on each painting.
