I will probably never guess how you get those colors, atmosphere and everything in between, as I prefer more "solid" work with acrylic and these subtle tones you get are beyond my skill (and probably beyond my technique and subject) but every time I see your work it makes me literally sigh with delight. What a wonderful worlds you create.

When I paint the background  I paint watercolor on wet paper 'Which gives a blurred effekt if the paper is not too wet or too dry. I try to use multi-color shades. I think it is important to follow the feeling when painting and don't plan so much  before you start painting, which is difficult when doing  complicated paintings.
I like your paintings, you have a nice feeling in them.

Well, I don't plan much neither, just get general idea, concept and rough color palette. I used to paint with watercolors but they appeared not my medium. I tried to get this blurry effect and to some point I managed to achieve it but then I was usually adding other elements over it and all in all the effect was not what I had originally intended. So, I leave watercolors to people like you who really know how to make them work beautifully ^_^
