Description Just starting Concept #17 today. Hooray for work, school, relatives, and college!

I pretty much started with a basic straight staircase with basic supports, and gradually pull ideas out of my head and modeled as they were thought of. I like the process, and plan to use it more. No concept art for this one.

The lighting is pretty much finished. The modeling may be touched up (the stairs' modeling will definitely be cleaned up), and the scene will be improved. The modeling was actually very quick thanks to handy-dandy Dupliframes. The floating glowee sphere that you may notice is just a glowlight that I have not built anything around yet. Maybe I'll slap some furniture and pictures in there, or get a shot of a window. GI is low-qual right now. Caustics have yet to be added. The camera angle is also a bit boring.

I'm considering as to whether or not to keep the Plexiglass material for the steps. I've tried texturing it with wood, and leaving it just flat gray, but neither seemed to fit.

Specs:
Created in Blender 3D and rendered with YafRay for 2:23:23.70 at 1000x750.
Postpro: Signature.
Modeling: All modeling by me. Verts/Faces/Objects: 160852/168022/11.
Textures: Blender basic shaders.
Renderer: GI, glowlight, soft shadows, volumetrics.

Comments appreciated, crits valued!

Very nice step-ladder, is there light neon of the same step ? or maybe around the step ? corners of step i mean.

Oooh, that's really gorgeous. I like the plexiglass. What about colored plexiglass?

Thanks! It was just kinda pulled out of my head. I had been thinking about the design before I started modeling, but little of those thoughts made it into the scene. The final-ish version (rendering now) sees the other side get supports also (I figure that a person standing on the far side wouldn't want to be wobbling up and down). But the bottom of those large beams are still the only things that touch the ground.

I like the plexizaboomafoo stairs, they're unique and contrast well with the wall colors. There's two weird little dots on the back wall by the way, I dunno if they're artifacts or what.

Once you spice up the walls it'll be a winner.

Yeah, they're artifacts (because of the low-quality GI). Skimped on the antialiasing, too.

/Final render coming soon.

good shit! keep it up [no i dont mean that]

i have no clue if this would be a critical comment or justa comment.
lighting is good, sort of ethereal. steps could be variated a lil more, overall, maybe another variable or 2 in it would make it more... u know... sumthn!

What do you mean by variable? Is it like an extra element in the staircase, or something that changes as you move from step to step?
