Description This beautiful lady we called Sammy for the past few months since she had been wandering around our yard and neighborhood. We knew she had to have belonged to someone because she was obviously well fed, but we made sure she didn't want for food whenever she hung around our house. In the past month she'd jump up on our grill and give me kisses on the forehead in appreciation of all our attentions. We always kept our eye out for notices in the local paper, at the grocery store and never saw anything displaying her as a lost cat. After losing Frankie this summer, I was starting to get anxious about what we'd do about her when the winter came...

Then two weekends ago I hear a knock on our sliding glass door and a girl asks if this was our cat, I told her no, she was just a stray we fed occasionally. Turns out that Sammy was named Abby and Abby had bolted from their house this past summer, just a block and a half away! They thought something bad had happened to her and the lo and behold, as they were driving down the road she was hanging out in our yard. The girl was in tears, I was in tears, and I was so happy to hear she had a loving home that had missed her so much.

Last weekend I took this and another photo of Abby over to the family just happy that she had her family back--they say they will let her out again to wander in a few more weeks so we might see her again and maybe I'll get more kisses.

It's so refreshing to read such a heartwarming story! I'm so happy for all involved, especially for Abby getting her family back! Now she's has two families! 'Cuz I know you, Taryn! She's partly yours now too! I got a call from my nephew about a starving stray he found at his work and before I got home he'd already named him Poe (for Edgar Allen Poe). So I don't have to worry that I'll have another cat! LOL! Poor baby, though, he's lame, declawed and is just a bag of bones! But we'll get him fixed up! Oh, and solid black....my favorite!

I'm still happy that we were able to get her back to her family, and we figure when they let her out to roam again that we'll definitely see here again. Aww and new kitties!! With all the love you'll give him, Poe is going to flourish and get better quickly!

Well, Poe never made it to me! LOL! My nephew has him! I knew once he had named him that it was all over...he'd keep him! It's okay though, I don't need another boy! Three is enough!

Hehe, it's my 50mm 1.4 lens I was using with her--though I upped the aperture to 2.4 because I wanted a little more depth of field on her face. I would definitely recommend investing in the 50mm 1.8 (which is much more affordable and not that much of a difference when it gets down to it), you'll probably find that's the lens that stays on your camera 75% of the time.

D7000 is supposed to be a super excellent camera--top of the line DX format that outperforms both the D90 and D300s...so two very huge thumbs up for it!
