I don't think he can come back completely. Not like he was before anyway. I think he could be remembered, but Riley wouldn't be able to see him like she could when she was younger. It would be sweet, though, if she did remember.

i thought he was going to be a throwaway character but he was more prominent than i thought and i was okay with it in the end

yeah it was - but the thing that bothered me was that there was such a focus about him and riley going to the moon, i wanted at the end for there to be a scene where riley and her foghorn team were outside and they hold the trophy up to the sky and the moon's in the background - because technically joy doesn't keep her promise to him and i thought that was a little sad but it's probably implied that it happened but STILL
