Description SpinBeat v1.0; a skin for Rainmeter using the AudioLevel and NowPlaying plugin. Displays a circulair cover art and both rotates and scales with the output sound of your system.
The skin uses a transformation matrix to be able to rotate and scale at the same time. The cover is obtained through the nowplaying plugin.
You'll need to enter a suitable playername into the skin to make this plugin work. This page contains a list of supported media players with their values: docs.rainmeter.net/manual/plug…

Variables have been added at the start of the skin file (.ini), to make the skin fully scalable.
Though, keep in mind that the files are 600x600 px big and having a total scale >1 will reduce quality.
using the variables, you'll be able to:
  • define the bass scale of the skin
  • define how much the seperate parts of the skin will scale with the sound
  • apply different functions to transfer the measured sound to a scale number
  • define the base rotation speed
  • define how much rotation speed the skin will gain with the sound
  • apply custom album colors
  • choose between the two shades: light and dark

Note: This skin may increase the load on the cpu. If this is troubling for you, try decreasing the "scalers" and "FFTsize" variables in the skin.
The "scalers" variables have a great influence on the total dimensions of the skin, having a bigger skin requires more processing.
The "FFTsize" refers to the frequency resolution of the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). A higher FFTsize means more processing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Changelog version 2.0:

  • Enabled low pass filter (the meter only responses to kicks and bass) using FFT, also added music customization options
  • Added media player volume controls, by Scrolling on the cover art
  • Fixed the issue with the play button disappearing
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Changelog version 1.3:

  • Music player controls! use the album art for the basic music controls. Left mouseclick for play/pause, right mouseclick for  next track and middle mouseclick for previous track
  • Improved look, added playbutton for when you hover over the skin
  • An extra transfer function which is scalable for when the output noise is too little

Enjoy!

You will have to edit the .ini file, which is very simple.
you can do so by clicking the skin with your right mouse button in the Rainmeter window: i.imgur.com/H3pEKPF.png
After doing so, you edit the "Player" variable in the variables section of the skin: i.imgur.com/iFkDkFJ.png

The variables are different for each player, the list of supported media players and their playernames for rainmeter are stated here: docs.rainmeter.net/manual-beta…

Very nice skin!! This is exactly what I'm looking for !!
Can I have a play button which opens the Foobar if it's closed or plays/pauses the playback if Foobar is opened?
I found some code here but it didn't work  forum.rainmeter.net/viewtopic.… ;

Unfortunately not, the skin only uses the nowplaying plugin, which is meant for standard music players.
I could make a version for spotify and add it, but I will have to look into it a bit more.
