Description
Power: water breathing, memory sharingTools: claws
Memory Crabs are a species of amphibious arthropods that were created by the Makuta long ago. They have the ability to exchange memories with a target on contact. This can be used as a defense mechanism, letting them show their would-be predators frightening glimpses of the past, causing them to recoil or flee. The Crab also copies a random memory from its target, which it can use later on. There is a limit to how many memories a Memory Crab can remember, although they sometimes span thousands of years. Anyone who touches a Memory Crab could bear witness to a long-dead civilization, or get the taste of the last thing it ate - the results are unpredictable, and the Crabs themselves seem to have little control over which memories they exchange.
The De-Matoran Shuh works with a domesticated Memory Crab named Mili. He uses her to catch glimpses of ages long past and occasionally as a messenger, although the nature of the Memory Crab's power makes this method unreliable. The bottom right picture shows Mili exchanging memories with Imoz.

Would they make for excellent brain food for the Agori?

You know how people crack open crab shells to eat the meat inside?

You're asking if an Agori could eat one and absorb its memories? Interesting concept. I imagine that power only works when they're alive, but anything is possible in BIONICLE.

It sure is, but who knows? Maybe theyβre best steamed, or boiled alive.

Maybe. You could probably get a boatload of memories just from handling it, too.
