Description Since I've been finding myself blabbing an aweful lot lately about the need to help educate newcomers about how to tweak seed flames, I thought that I would put my proverbial money where my not so proverbial mouth is and write a mini-tutorial to address a simple subtlety in Apo color manipulation that I've only seen partly covered in other tutorials.

This started out as a lesson that I gave to a couple of my former mentees from the Senior Mentors Project. I 've updated it a little for a couple of new pupils that I've agreed to take on, but figured that maybe others might appreciate it also.

My intention is to present a short tutorial containing more images than words so as not to overwhelm the newcomer with Apo jargon. I also included all of the associated parameter text, flame files, gradient files and images in the zip file to encourage interaction.

If it is well received, I might consider writing other "ApoBits" as I like to call them on different topics.

Note to advanced fractalists: I would greatly appreciate anyone willing to take the time to review and critique this tutorial. I'm always open to suggestions on how to improve and make my creations more useful to our community This is my first tutorial submission afterall, so I wouldn't expect to have it completely perfect on the first run through...

Happy fractaling!

I like the professionalism of your presentation! While not completely new to Apo it is nice to see my observations (from trial and error, cobbled together with hints) neatly summed up here in one cohesive flow.

This is my resources folder here on dA and will reside offline too!

Thanks so much!

Thank you very much for making this tutorial!
I've been wondering how I'd add more colors to flames made from scratch, and now I can, thanks to this.
(I have read the other tutorial as well. )

You are most welcome Catherine. I'm really glad that you found it useful! Let me know if there are any other core topics in Apo that you'd like to see covered in more detail. I'd be happy to add more tutorials to what I'm hoping will become a series

I have found this tutorial really interesting, because - believe it or not - I have never used the symmetry function! Great tutorial for an Apo newbie like me!

Oh - it's always a pleasure to help you "newbies" out!
I guess that it really goes to show just how many tricks there are to learn with Apo. I just think about the staggering volume of stuff that I still don't know about the program and it's just scary

Thank you so much for the kind and supportive feedback Luc. Please suggest other tutorials that you think might be useful to add to this first of what I'm hoping may eventually become a series.

Smashing tut, Sasha. I'm sure it will be of great help to any fractalist interested in messing with the colour system.

It doesn't matter! I still won't get it in time for Christmas anymore...

Thanks for the on the tut. I'm thinking that maybe I should write some more of them. Any suggestions on a topic?
