Last weekend at the not-so-local swap meet, I picked up a Nintendo 64 and Banjo-Kazooie, a classic Nintendo game that is not on Virtual Console (due to the rights of the game's company being bought by Microsoft). I had heard that this game was good, but that's an understatement. It's freakin' awesome. Definitely one of the best games of the 64-bit era, up there with Super Mario 64 and the original trilogies of both Crash Bandicoot and Spyro.

Anyway, anyone who's actually played the game should get this. But, as is the situation with every time I make a joke about a game I've never made a joke about before, I'm nervous that no one will actually get it due to not playing the game. So, I'll explain it, thus making the joke less funny. Hooray.

Throughout the game, you get jigsaw puzzle pieces, called "Jiggies" (they're the equivalent of stars in Mario 64/Galaxy). And whenever you get them, your buddy Kazooie swallows them whole: [link]

See? I don't get it either. It's not like you have to destroy them to prevent the villain from getting them. Then such an odd behavior could be explained. But no. You NEED the Jiggies to unlock levels. How Banjo gets the Jiggies out of Kazooie's digestive tract is something I'd rather not draw.

And gah, I'm beginning to notice that I'm using that generic grassy background way too much.
