Even as a little kid, I didn't understand the whole "Defeat the bad guys in Pokemon battles to save the universe" thing. But now that I'm a teenager... I still don't get it.But without a doubt, the best example of the stupidity of this is in R/B/Y/FR/LG. Team Rocket is defeated because Red/Leaf defeats Giovanni in a battle. Dude, you're a Gym Leader. It's kinda normal for Trainers to beat you. Plus, even if I am supposed to believe that all your Pokemon fainting ruins your plans, there's a Pokemon Center about 100 feet from your Gym!
And yes, I did reuse my picture of Red from [link]

My Guess... Giovanni quits Team Rocket tries to resurrect it and has a Son. (Who wants to have a son with him, Jesse?) His son sarts his journeys in Johto but Red beats him up and takes his pokemon and says, "You seem nice but don't use your dad's pokemon unless you wanna beat me!" The son grabs his pokemon back and sends out Nidoking. Red takes Pikachu out and hits Nidoking. Giovanni's son loses so then goes to Proffesor Elm's lab and then we start at HeartGold/ SoulSilver!

Hehe, a pretty elaborate story there. The only problem with it is that Silver must have been alive during the events of FR/LG, since HG/SS take place three years later, and Silver is obviously older than 3.
Also, my theory is that Silver's mother is Team Rocket Executive Ariana ( [link] ). They both look and act similar (Giovanni and Silver look nothing alike), and it would explain the red hair. Also, Giovanni getting together with one of his executives makes sense. Just my theory, though.

Then woudn't Ariana be a higher executive than Archer
( [link] ). Archer is the lead of resurrecting Team Rocket w/o the contact of Giovanni.

In FR/LG, they are the same rank (Team Rocket Executive), though they aren't named. Guess Archer was deemed the best leader when Team Rocket disbanded.

My theory:
Giovanni hasn't always been Viridian Gym Leader and during his reign he created Team Rocket as a way to foward his evil tendencies. Trainers that come along have all been incompetent and not fully understanding of type matchups and such so they offered little opposition to his nefarious deeds. Then along comes this who hasnt hit puberty yet who skillfully defeats him at every turn even giving him his first loss as gym leader. Realizing that if a mere child can defeat him others will soon follow suit following the ways of this prospecting Champion, he disbands the group to avoid more humiliation.

Ehm... Why does he just give up, then? If he was serious about Team Rocket, he would train some more.

WaffleBerry In reply to ToastersToastToast [2011-02-11 03:40:17 +0000 UTC]
He wouldn't just tell him that he would try again... he would train in secrecy to return again hoping to once again challenge red and defeat him
hes in for one hell of a surprise though with that level 88 pikachu XD
when is gamestop giving out the celebi for the event

ToastersToastToast In reply to WaffleBerry [2011-02-11 03:45:58 +0000 UTC]
Well yeah. He does train for three years and battles the player in HG/SS... and his Pokemon are even weaker than they were when he was a Gym Leader. Wat.
I'm honestly not sure. You'll have to look that up.

the weaker pokes could be due to him catching new nidorans and training them but seriously only 40 or so levels after 3 years XD

My only guess is that Giovanni somehow see the errors of his ways and decides to quit his life of crime to devote the rest of his life to become a PokΓ©mon researcher.
By the way, Giovanni looks kind of nice in this picture.

Eh, no. Ever played HeartGold/SoulSilver? Giovanni has plans to resurrect Team Rocket, and it's up to you to stop him.

Oh... I've only played the original PokΓ©mon Sliver years ago and Giovanni wasn't even in that game. For all I know, it probably was the remaining Team Rocket agents that wanted to revive the organization.

Yeah, Giovanni was only in the remakes. And the Team Rocket Grunts wanting to resurrect Team Rocket are still throughout the game. It's only in a special event where you see Giovanni, and he's all "I hear you, my Team Rocket Grunts. And I will resurrect Team Rocket. Oh crap, just got beaten by a kid again. Never mind, guys!"
Here's the event if you want to see it: [link]

In one of the comic books the badges had some power that stopped all the bad guys plans

Hmm, kinda odd that Giovanni would give Red the badge, then. It'd be like the bad guy giving the good guy a fully-loaded AK-47.
Also, keep in mind that the games and the comics take place in separate universes.

My favorite team is Team Galactic; in my opinion that was the only good thing with the Gen 4 shows. XD

Yeah. I especially love the Team Rocket Grunts that tell you the password or give you the key so you can continue just because you beat them in a Pokemon battle.

This totally reminds me of that guy who drops the lift key. He's just like, "Oops, I dropped the lift key!" and does nothing about it. And, for whatever reason, I always picture him talking in Butch's voice.
I also never understood Team Rocket's method of getting Pokemon. You think instead of simply stealing them, they'd befriend them so the Pokemon would actually be on their side, and fight for them willingly, and not try to escape. Just a thought.

ToastersToastToast In reply to nikkissippi121 [2011-06-22 21:52:12 +0000 UTC]
I don't recall Team Rocket's Pokemon ever trying to escape from them.

Well, there was Mewtwo, and some other Pokemon they've stolen I can somewhat remember trying to escape but being unable to. You know, sort of like when Jessie and James try to steal Pikachu (and sometimes other Pokemon), and he tries to escape. I think that's what I was getting at.
π: 0 β©: 1
ToastersToastToast In reply to nikkissippi121 [2011-06-23 08:36:06 +0000 UTC]
Well, yeah. It's probably because Pikachu loves Ash and hates Team Rocket, and that Mewtwo just hate humans.

True! But, when they stole Duplica's Ditto, they acted quite mean to it... I think if they had taken a nicer approach it may have worked better.

Here let me exsplane it
since you have one the badge and beatin the team rocket leader that shows that you are very strong and can eazly take everyone in teamrocke down so, he ends team rocket so that dosent hapen...now do you get it? o3o

Hey! Mewmon! Don't leave me here!! Um, I think it means that if you're strong enough to beat the boss, he knows that since you beat him, you could keep coming back to beat him if he ever caused any trouble and so the organisation would be pointless.
Or something.

yes... the bad guys in pokemon are brainless. and that makes us laugh. like in HGSS, when they take over the radio tower, all you have to do is go find a team rocket outfit. even though you were there about half a minute ago, they don't recognize you.
