Well, funny how the smallest details can have the largest effects in the long-run. 
I'm guessing Twilight and Pinkie went 5312 years back in time - whatever their reasons may have been - and Pinkie saw past-Twilight being all mopey and, against future-Twilight's strict advice, interacted with her by giving her a hug.
This changed the future into what we see in the final panel of this comic.

I don't believe it's because of the hug but rather because some character or characters decided they'd just kill for no reason. Saying it's actually because of a hug is like saying orange trees come from blueberry seeds. And although I'm sure that can happen in a rather roundabout way after composting, that's not the point because they're not blueberry seeds after composting.
