For anyone wondering, "What the heck has Tobu been doing lately?!"...WORK. Specifically, teaching two English conversation classes (one biweekly and one weekly) on top of my 8-to-4 job at the middle school and weekly visits to the elementary school across the street. Plus traditional pottery and archery lessons, plus musical rehearsals, plus a two-day work conference in Sapporo this week, plus Christmas shopping and redecorating my house and planning a New Year's trip to Tokyo and Beijing.
My life is a full one, but I feel very fulfilled at the moment.
In the meantime, for lack of any real deviations, have another soon-to-be-Scrapped potpourri of scribbles from the margins and backs of my school paperwork!
Let's see, we've got some Future AU redesigns, some creepy Katara, an incompetent halfway attempt to draw Suki, some Koh (because Koh makes everything better)...even a few of my original characters up there by Creepy Katara! Will wonders never cease.
So...got any suggestions for a 30K kiriban?

1.Krazy!Katara doesn't look all the crazy to me, her hawty-smirk-thing seems more sexy then crazy.
2. Why'd you write 'Fire Lord and Diplomat'? We all know you meant 'Fire Lord and Wife'. 83
3.Koh scares me. a lot. really. a lot.
4. Sexy older!Toph is sexy. Also, I'd like to say that is the best design I've seen of an older!Toph. I really love her look.
And as far as the kiriban goes, anything Avatar is good. Zutara is even better, of course, and smutty!Zutara is a girls dream come true. You could also draw Sokka shirtless and with his hair down, because that's always hot as hell. Or um... Kai? Katai? Maira? Maitara? Oh hell, KataraxMai for old times' sake, and for the bet-on-it shock value.
(PS. totally wish we could chat more often! why don't you have MSN or AIM or Yahoo! or some other IM program? *cough*Never mind that our timezones are 13hrs apart and we'd most likely never be awake at the same time. *cough*)

1) I guess I was reminded of Creepy Katara? Though Sexy Katara fits the trope, too...
2) *shrugs* Because I figured this is before they tie the knot? I dunno. I like the idea of Katara serving as Chief Emissary for the Southern Water Tribe for a while, rather than just jumping into matrimony. She's a very tough and independent lady...and after all, if Sokka's "like a prince", what does that make her?

These look great! I love how you can see through the paper to your homework (?) on the other side! XD I'm definitely going to have to share in the mad love for the wrestling champ! She looks so cute! And so confident in her awesome earthbending prowess! Can't wait to see what you come up with next!

*chuckles* The only homework I handle these days belongs to my students, and I can't sketch on those. It's mostly paperwork, and informational handouts. XD
Toph produces a natural aura of confidence and prowess. It's like sweat, it just oozes from her pores without her meaning to do it.

And Toph definitely oozes the confidence, which is what I think makes her such a fun character - she knows she has these super awesome powers and isn't afraid of showing them off and being known for them. She's a strong female character who doesn't take crap from anyone. Plus, she's funnier than anything!

Your picture of Koh circling Zuko (or at least, I think it's Zuko), looks exactly like a scene from my fan fiction, only Katara's in there with him. Huh, weird.

Lol, well Koh's not in the fic until the very last two chapters, but he's sort of like the mega-climax bad-guy (Ozai has very little to do with it, really).
I can give you the link if you want, but unfortunately, it's quite a long fic and it won't make much sense unless you've read the prequel (it's Zutara).
All in all, a lot of reading.
It's up to you though, really.

Yup, JET Program. I recommend it highly--don't sign with a private company if you can help it, they're notoriously unreliable lately. (Look up Nova and how it went supernova recently if you don't believe me.)
Last year was Kobe and Kyoto, this year it's Tokyo and Beijing. I love holiday travel.

Totally am, have another year and a bit left, and you don't have to be proficient at all, though some ability helps. Basically, dredge up every helpful experience you've ever had, and think of a good internationally-minded way you're going to use the experience in your future life to mention in the essay. And don't forget to be friendly, professional and relaxed in the interview, and be on your toes for awkward questions about stuff like your thoughts on sexual harassment in the workplace, pop quizzes on US and Japanese politicians, or how you would quiet down a noisy classroom.
