Description Ok, this was a while coming. Here we go. I mixed up the whole order of this except for No. 1.

- Diesel Does It Again. Yeah, I'd take Thomas and the Evil Diesel or the story arc WNW did for Diesel any day of the week over this, but this was still a good watch for me. Diesel's snarky persona and Duck and Percy's reactions to Diesel being on Sodor again really sell it for me. And the accident near the end where Diesel's like "oops" got a kick out of me.

- The Trouble With Mud. Again, Leaves was much better, but the dialogue presented in this episode makes Gordon's situation at least somewhat believable. Plus, the ending line made me laugh.

- Rocky Rescue. Ok, some people did say that the SS&R team looked incompetent, but I'm sorry. A helicopter, fire engine, steam engine and tow truck trying to get a crane back on the rails? The situation was too funny for me not to like it. And the banter was really good too.

- The Frozen Turntable. Gordon's comeuppance was very satisfying at the end I felt, and I thought that Gordon's reactions to various locations on where to sleep was quite funny.

- Toby and the Flood. Ok, this one has problems with realism, but Toby's worries did feel genuine. I mean, would you be worried about rushing water under a bridge if you were close to falling off one two seasons ago? They also treat a serious situation like a serious situation, and I love how Percy and Harold work together to rescue Toby. Huh, and they don't even argue for once.

- Percy and the Haunted Mine. This one has more of a spooky tone to the episode, especially with the sinking buildings. Plus, the naughty gnomes revealed to be garden gnomes was quite funny.

- Scardy Engines. Thomas' character does take a step back and it'd be better if they used Diesel honestly. But, I always get a kick out of this bit:
Percy: I wouldn't want Thomas to be late for the fireworks.
Thomas (racing past): THE GHOST'S AFTER ME!
Duck: I don't think he'll be late!
Seriously, Michael Anglais nails it. Overall this episode fits both the spooky tones and the humour for me. Plus, I love the Percy/Duck dynamic in this one.

- Snow. I love seeing the narrow gauge engines dealing with the cold weather, and it's something we've only seen in the RWS books once. This episode's jokes hit bullseyes each time. Skarloey is asleep, the crew are drinking cocoa, the workmen all trying to guess what's under the snow, and Gordon's contraption at the end. This will never fit into the books, but it's still hilarious.

- Rusty and the Boulder. I'd take this over Emily Saves the World anytime. This episode's so suspenseful and action packed. And unlike most cases, you can understand why Skarloey, Rheanes and Rusty would be afraid. I'd be afraid of a giant boulder rolling my way. Plus, that explosion at the sheds where Percy is... gosh.

- Rusty to the Rescue/Thomas and Stepney. Ok, I put these two together because they are disliked for about the same reason: it diverges from the RWS. But, I think it was for the best. Bluebells Of England was basically just Percy and Douglas bantering back and forward and exposition about the Bluebell line, and Stepney's Special would have had to make five one off models for one episode just to work. Rusty to the Rescue conveys a message I don't think the episode was trying to teach: to help others besides your own kind. It's great to see a diesel be so compassionate to help a steam engine out of danger. As a kid, Rusty was my favourite of the NG engines and this episode was why. Stepney and Rusty's bond shown is also adorable. As for Thomas and Stepney, it shows a side of Thomas we haven't seen before this point: jealousy of the new engine. Plus, they both LB&SCR tank engines and the terriers have been more successful than the E2s, added a bit of realism to the plot. These two episodes are really good for what they are.

The fact that Diesel Does it Again continued Duck and Diesel's rivalry (something I wished Thomas and the Evil Diesel did), The Trouble with Mud did at least redeem Gordon at the end, Toby being sort of brave in the flood, and Rusty and the Boulder's action was amazing.

Well, I did a rewrite of Thomas and the Evil Diesel with Duck in Thomas' place if you want to see that:Β Based on Thomas and the Evil Diesel...

As for the rest, well, they won't fit into the RWS for sure, but I think Toby and the Flood could have a few tweaks done. Check out ShimmeringSparkles story Mavis In PerilΒ www.fanfiction.net/s/8139224/5…

Alright!

First of all, why is Percy the only engine not doing anything on what they said was "A busy Day"? Shouldn't he pulling the mail train or working at the coal yards or something?

Second, Percy is acting WAY too childish and dumb! He's asking TRAINS if they could PLAY with him, A TRAIN!!! THEY AREN'T MEANT TO BE PLAYING ON A RAILWAY!!! AND, he thinks the best way to make friends is to be loud and annoying! AND he's scared of Gordon? What? How can Percy be scared of Gordon when he joked about him numerous times?!

Third, I understand how Cranky can make friends with the seagulls (And we might get an episode based off of that) But for Percy to just run across the island, wasting precious time when he could be doing something really useful, trying to find random animals to be friends with when he ALREADY HAS FRIENDS HE CAN TALK TO!!!

Forth, and most importantly, why don't his driver and fireman stop him from doing ANY OF THIS STUFF?!?! Oh wait, Sharron Miller Era.

Audrey would be ashamed in this... boiler sludge of an episode!

TobyandMavisforever In reply to TitanXecutor [2018-04-28 23:40:23 +0000 UTC]

Ok, on the 'playing' subject, they mentioned in Percy Runs Away that Thomas, Percy and Edward could play on the branchline for a few days. But, it is pretty ridiculous here. And the rest of the points I do agree on.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TitanXecutor In reply to TobyandMavisforever [2018-04-28 23:42:02 +0000 UTC]

I think they meant they still had to work on the Branchline but I don't know. Maybe you're right on that

Thanks again for agreeing with my points. What do you agree most on?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TobyandMavisforever In reply to TitanXecutor [2018-04-28 23:46:24 +0000 UTC]

Well, I think what that meant was, they could do what they wished but it has to be within reason, obviously. In my headcanon, Thomas took Annie and Clarabel on a passenger run up to Mrs Kindely's cottage and they had a long talk.

It's also based off a Sodor Memories segment. Edward said he wasn't comfortable with playing on the branchline

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TitanXecutor In reply to TobyandMavisforever [2018-04-28 23:53:18 +0000 UTC]

I see. Is it because he's a mature engine and he has his own work to do?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TobyandMavisforever In reply to TitanXecutor [2018-04-28 23:55:13 +0000 UTC]

I think it's more to do with the fact he was abandoned in a shed for a long time before being let out again.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TitanXecutor In reply to TobyandMavisforever [2018-04-29 00:09:01 +0000 UTC]

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TobyandMavisforever In reply to TitanXecutor [2018-04-29 00:12:49 +0000 UTC]

That was when he was working hard, and then when the prospect of 'playing' on the branchline came up, Edward was a bit unsure about it. Thomas and Percy managed to lighten him up though

And, TBH, I kind of like Toby and the Flood a little bit more than Toby's Discovery, because Toby was a little more brave in Toby and the Flood, and TBH, I don't get why people are getting so worked up about Toby's Discovery. I know Toby was slightly OOC, and Bertram was kind of a relative to Duke, but come on! Is there any good reason to despise Toby's Discovery!?
