Tobias, you really know how to do your stuff. ^_~ Everything here looks pretty much perfect. Looks the the character in this picture is depressed after a recent event? Is that your character, by the way, or is it another? Anyway, yeah, from the looks of it, it seems some war has destroyed the place, and this protagonist is a survivor. (...Hey, you don't mind me interpreting, right? ) The setting used to seem like a really nice place; maybe it's an old playground that this character used to play around. That's a nice use of ground decoration with that circular pattern, and the wall is not left without detail; I like that small pattern you added there on the banner-like stone to the left. The background weather also shows the sad emotion in this picture. The shading as well shows how color can determine a time of despair. The dark clouds probably indicated that it rained (and that small puddle too ), and it, combined with the destruction of these relics, makes a great stirring drawing. Look at him; I feel sorry for the little guy. But who knows, there may be a good road ahead of him, as indicated by the small ray of light penetrating the clouds.

Although I am two years late , I'd still like to say that you did a wonderful job with your drawings!

Been meaning to do this for awhile actually, so here goes. ^-^

As said, this is definetely your best 'older' piece, and one of your best overall, in my opinion. It stands out a lot, in many ways, from the fact it's in pencil(which adds a lot to the mood), to being the only drawing in your gallery with a melancholy atmosphere. Most of your art even has trees, grass, plants of some sort, but here all you see is empty ruins with no signs of life(aside from the character of course, and the few blades of grass growing here and there. ). The perspectives, cracks and shadings on the ruins all seem to fit perfectly, making this look realistic and making one just feel "there", being able to associate with the devastation even more. The large stormcloud overhead adds to the dismal feeling, yet the ray of sunlight flowing through is probably my favorite addition; it just perfects the entire picture, making it seem vibrant although there is no color, and the way I see it, signals hope for a brighter future...there's more deep meaning in this drawing than any other I've seen, that I can recall(which is of course why it stuck in my mind ever since I first saw it). Wonderful job

I can never shade like you... this whole piece is just... wow. The cracks, the sky, the setting... they're all beauitful.

The whole feeling of this is saddening. The ruins gives a sense of lost and sorrow. But the ray of light from the sun is a great symbol. There's still hope.

Great job!

Grr...I got blue screen when I tried to comment eariler...never do two things at once on a computer...it bad.

This picture is, seriously, wicked! I love all the yummy details, too much even for one setting. I just love how you shaded this too, something I could never do in my drawing class.
My gawd, the tiles on the floor, the broken pillers, and total dustruction is so beautiful and very sad...mainly cause of the sad Furry sitting there. Looks like toal chaos(not from SA) has befallen his "home" and he's the only one to have survive.

Geez, I can't stop staring at those pillers, you did them so well and realistic!

The mood here is so sad and depression when you liike at the guy and see all that is broken. So well done.

Kudos ta ye Toby! Kudos! If I had a good pencil, like the one you did hear, I'd gladly give it to ya.

Does the soccer ball have a meaning?
*FFX spoilers*
Casue it reminds me on the scene where Sin comes to Kilika and causes total Hell to the people there and as the scene ends...you see a Blitzball float by, which BTW, was held by a child right before Sin came.
*End Spoilers*

I'm +faving this cause the love the art and it's so well done.

So sadness here...but I love those ruins.^^

Actually, I find the soccer ball most intriguing.^^; Looking at the scenery, one would expect some kind of sword or other medieval object.:laughin: But, here we have a soccer ball...which is even better cuz it goes with the mood; it's something you'd need a friend to have fun with.

Now...good...lord...in light of a better word to discribe "good" I think the word BIBLICAL would more or less work here. o.o

The scene itself, ok, I have to admit, it is kind of depressing or showing off some type of down side [Which I'm guessing IS the theme to the picture.

[However, that light in the background and clothes the character is wearing does kind if making seem like a tad into the whole Fall of the tower of Babylon Bible moment there Toby..No offense religiouslly here. You just made it that good it's what it reminds me of. c.c;]

I have to admit, I love the shading here. The use of monochrome and black and white does give the feel of oppression here. [That pillar in the background being TOO well shaded. O.o;; That's not pencil work, that's a whole rock texture you've imbedded into the paper and scanned it! O.o;;]

Speaking of the stone pillar, I have to say the who idea of a stone city devasted was a very nice idea. IT shows that yeah, 'Forsaken' would have to be the proper term of use here. Stone being well, ancient and this would probably be the aftermath of the wrath of God or so here, or some great castrophe. [I think you know you drew a picture too well when the only thing you can compare it to would be biblical references... ^ ^;;;]

A nice sad picture, but lets assume that in peering throgh the clouds that woudl be a light of hope. That was a nice hidden creative touch in the picture dispite the theme.

I must say that I like this and due to how much I enjoy the creativity and originality of this theme, I will be proud to place it onto my favorites. =^ ^=

[Not to mention the fact that you read the essay which was this comment. c.c; Oh yeah. Extra stank on this one..]
