And still more rendering experiments. The only difference between these two is the addition of color. I kind of like the I colored version better at the moment, but everything is still a work in progress. I’ve got my underlying hand-painted paint texture, a pencil shading layer, painted shadows, inks, etc. I’ll arrive at the look I’m chasing sooner or later…maybe. I like some very distinct media, and it’s possible trying to combine them all just cumulatively detracts from all of them, hiding what makes each unique. And it may be that all the textures that make me happy can only be appreciated zoomed in further than is practical for viewing in a graphic novel format, and just lead to an overall muddy look. I’m going to keep searching.
