Yes it's a word... at least it's a word that my friends back in highschool created.
It comes from these roots:
Astro - meaning star, stellar
clasm - destruction.

Though really this is more of a image of life than destruction. I got to looking at some images taken by the hubble space telescope and by the spitzer space telescope, and I got to wondering, what would happen if I mixed the two types? Ultraviolet (false color) images and true light (real color images. I figured that while I was at it I might as well throw in some planets, and the final result looks nothing like what it should look like (i.e. an image of a nebula in ultraviolet superimposed over the same nebula in true color, doesn't look quite right), but I'm very pleased with the outcome.

It took me several hours to create and I have no clue as to how many layers (I lost count! lol!), and now I've got this really bad crick in my neck, hehe. But all is well that ends well. And now I must get to bed, tomorrow is the Spring 2006 Joint Meeting TSAPS/TSAAPT/Zone 13 SPS (it's a really big physics meeting, and it starts at 8:00 in the morning, hehe), there'll be more physicists than you can shake a piece of chalk at.
