*ahem* This is my bio for Tohda Parsh, the character I'll be using for the competition at You can expect Tohda's introduction within the next couple days.
~~~~~
BIO:
Name: Tohda Parsh
Gender: Male
Age: At the time of this competition; 19
Height: 5 ft, exactly
Body Type: Slim, not very muscular.
Home Town: Clause City (The largest city in the region from which he comes, the Tohda Region. [The explanation as to why his name and the name of the region are the same are explained in his bio] Clause City is a humongous city that'd be about the same size as Saffron City and Goldenrod City combined...with room for maybe a few small towns.)
Appearance: The first thing anybody would notice about Tohda is how amazingly short he is...at least, if you know his age. If he were, maybe, 12, his height might be appropriate. But he's 19, and quite short, with a slim, though not sickly-thin, body. Once you get past his short-ness, the next thing one would see is is long, dark blonde hair, which reaches to about his mid-back. And while one is looking at his head, you'd notice his emerald-green eyes which are usually hidden behind rectangular, black-framed glasses. Moving downward along his body, you'd notice the orange spiritual beads around his neck (below a usually unshaven face). He has some very unique clothes, wearing a dark gray kimono. ....though, he's had it specially made so that the top is worn open, and can be closed with a hidden zipper if needed in colder weather. To block his chest, he wears a black undershirt. Although the kimono top and bottom are dark gray, orange was used to sew it together, and can be seen at obvious seams. He also wears an orange sweatband around his left wrist for no particular reason. Lastly, and he's proud of these, are his orange and purple cross-trainers.
Personality: Tohda is extremely eccentric and optimistic. He usually wears a smile and likes to make small talk, even in the middle of battle. Sometimes while making the small talk in battle, he can come off as arrogant and may anger his opponent, but Tohda means nothing by it...usually. (For example, in the later years of his life [after this competition], he battles what could only be described a ' psychotic madman,' and spent half the battle describing to him how he could improve his techniques) Though, he will start taking things more seriously when he's down to about two Pokemon. Tohda usually gets excited when he meets new Pokemon, especially if they're rare or unusual. For example, he'd probably not be so excited about a well-trained Staravia, but would absolutely love to meet even a weak Exeggcute. However, don't let his shallow, eccentric (crazy, even) attitude confuse you....he's quite intelligent and a calculating strategist while battling...he just likes to make light of the situation. Lastly, very little can cause him to 'shake in his boots.' The Tohda Region is a very dark place and often holds true horrors of its own. Basically, Tohda has a pretty rock-solid heart, often laughing in the face of danger. (and maybe mocking it. Like the tale of the psychotic madman; Tohda faced him without any fear)
Background Info: Tohda was born in Clause City, the largest city found in the Tohda region. Now, don't get all excited about those names being the same, I'm getting to that. Clause city, to give you an idea, is about the size of Saffron City and Goldenrod City combined. ...it's big. Now, Tohda was born sick and had to be immediately hospitalized upon birth. It was believed that he would only live a few days before passing on and it was advised to the parents to not name the child since the bond was already too great. However, a week past, and yet another and the child's condition began to improve. After three-and-a-half weeks, its internal-problems seemed to have disappeared. The parents, who were avid-believers in the ancient lore of the region believed it to be a blessing from the creator of life and named the child for the land, Tohda.
The Tohda Region, see, unlike other regions, doesn't have a Pokemon League or a set of gyms or anything. It was mostly because the region was too small, but was also believed to be too...well; 'unlucky' is a good word for it. However, it did have a lot of different kinds of Pokemon, and many sought out to still be trainers, but often left the region to seek the fame of other region's Pokemon Leagues. Tohda, however, has a lot of pride in being from the region for which he was named. Once he became old enough to train Pokemon, Tohda sought an old friend of the family, a Pokemon Professor who lived in a different city to start training Pokemon. The very disorganized Professor didn't have much available for the young trainer. All he had to choose from as a starter was a Slugma, a Shroomish or a Corphish. Happy to have a choice at all, Tohda chose the dull-witted Slugma as his starter.
The time between then and now is filled mostly with quite a few mini-adventures throughout Tohda's small island-region. Since he didn't have a Pokemon League to work toward, Tohda spent most of his time finding new Pokemon, exploring various parts of the diverse region, and making many different friends. Nothing specific is worth mentioning toward the need of this competition, but Tohda grew both physically, mentally and spiritually throughout his adventures, making many allies. At one venture, he was invited to a competition for young trainers in the region of Johto, where he met his closest friend, Benton. Benton grew-up near Ecruteak City, and was a dedicated Poison-type trainer. Although neither of them won the competition they had entered, they remained life-long friends, eventually even trading Pokemon. (Specifically, Benton sending Tohda a Shiny Bellsprout who he still uses today)
At his current age, the time of this competition (19), Benton spent a little less time adventuring and began working on his 'ultimate project,' which consist of trying to open a series of coliseums around Tohda and a major over-all competition. He spends his days researching locations, and talking with many officials about the whole thing. Every so often, though, he gets a bug and goes out on 'mini-adventures' (which is how he met a number of the Pokemon he uses). He still lives in Clause City, and specifically cares for all his Pokemon, despite how busy he gets.
(His bio continues in the next few years, but the information is unneeded for this competition)
Friends in PCBC:
Zing ( *Iron-Zing )
PokΓ©mon:
Name: Magcargo
Gender: Male
Ability: Flame Body
Item: Quick Claw
Short Bio: Magcargo, as a Slugma, was Tohda's first Pokemon, having picked the lava slug for its cute absent-mindedness. Just as Tohda assumed, Magcargo is quite absent minded. He tends not to think much on his own and is very reliant on Tohda for direction and guidance, therefore, Tohda has his never-dying loyalty. Although a little dull-brained, he's a tough battler, heeding every command Tohda gives him to his fullest ability. As a snail-like Pokemon, he's not very fast physically and relies more on special moves which he can perform faster.
Moves:
Heat Wave
Acid Armor
Solarbeam
Recover
Name: Wobbuffet
Gender: Female (don't forget the lipstick! :3 )
Ability: Shadow Tag
Item: Focus Band
Short Bio: Wobbuffet was a Pokemon Tohda found later in his Pokemon-training career. Tohda found him deep in an underwater cavern. The cavern had many long tunnels reaching deep inside the island. While spelunking these caves, he came across a large group of Pokemon, including the likes of Onix, Makuhita, Gibble and Golbat. In the middle of these tough-types, was a bruised and beat Wobbuffet. She looked like she was able to stave off their attacks with her various blocking attacks, but she was beginning to grow weak and they were starting to over-power her. Tohda, a jerk for justice, wouldn't stand for them out-numbering her. Using what Pokemon he had on him at the time, he beat off the attackers. Although, he couldn't get them all, so he simply captured the already weakened Wobbuffet and ran away. Once healed, he offered to set Wobbuffet free, but she was so grateful, that she simply didn't. Wobbuffet is extremely eccentric. She's a willing and strong fighter (if you could so say that Wobbuffet 'fight' ) and loves to fight for Tohda. But when not fighting, she loves to do 'fun things.' Play games, romp-around, what-have-you, making her a perfect match to Tohda's equally eccentric attitude.
Moves:
Counter
Mirror Coat
Safeguard
Destiny Bond
Name: Porygon-Z (Tohda only uses the full name "Porygon-Z" when calling him to the field, but always refers to him as just ' Porygon' elsewise)
Gender: Genderless (referred to as masculine, however)
Ability: Download
Item: Sharp Beak
"Short" Bio: Quite short and simply; Tohda loved playing the slots. He would play and play and play. He didn't so much play for the prizes, but he just loved playing the game. In the end, he had found himself in a large number of game tokens. Tohda considered this and thought about the prizes, especially the extremely rare Pokemon available. Two of them he had been eyeing were the extremely rare Porygon and the one-time annual special, Castform. He got both. Porygon took some special training, because when it was younger, it was extremely stubborn and it didn't know many moves to begin with. However, after some serious training, Tohda managed to train Porygon to be a strategic fighter and evolved it to Porygon2....however; he was still very stubborn, not really listening to Tohda's commands often. Shortly before Tohda's decision to evolve it to Porygon-Z, though, Porygon2 had a change of heart. This was about the time that Tohda saved Wobbuffet in the caverns. Porygon2 was one of the Pokemon he called out to battle the group. While fighting, Porygon2 thought about why Tohda was fighting these Pokemon to protect a Wobbuffet that didn't even belong to him. It was compassion, of course! This was something Porygon2 could respect, this guy cared! Once they had escaped and Tohda began treating Porygon2's wounds, Porygon2 began showing Tohda some respect. Finally glad of his respect, Tohda made the final step and evolved Porygon2 into Porygon-Z. Now showing Tohda respect, Porygon-Z was actually a very kind Pokemon who loves attention. Its fighting-style is to float about the opponent, trying to confuse them, this relates to his slightly eccentric (not quite as eccentric as Wobbuffet, mind you) behavior.
Moves:
Zap Cannon
Conversion 2
Aerial Ace
Nasty Plot
Name: Victreebel
Gender: Male
Ability: Chlorophyll
Item: Black Sludge
Short Bio: Victreebel is a shiny Pokemon sent to Tohda by a Poison-Pokemon Trainer named Benton who lives in Johto. Tohda received Victreebel only as a Bellsprout, but the little sprout took kindly to Tohda right away. From then on, Tohda raised Bellsprout as Benton would've wanted; full of poisonous intent. Tohda kept in contact with Benton often while raising Victreebel, and Benton was also quite proud of Victreebel's likeness to poison. Though, the poison took to Victreebel's personality as easily as it took to his body. Although still respectful and kind to Tohda, Victreebel has a very sour personality toward anybody outside of Tohda's team. It likes to be alone and gets angry if disturbed. It has a weakness (outside battle, I mean) for flower gardens, enjoying spending time in them. (1. Because it loves flowers. and 2...lots of tasty bugs hang around those gardens. ~ )
Moves:
Slam
Toxic
Leaf Blade
Gastro Acid
(***PLEASE remember that he's Shiny!***)
Name: Castform
Gender: Male
Ability: Forecast
Item: Damp Rock
Short Bio: Quite short and simply; Tohda loved playing the slots. He would play and play and play. He didn't so much play for the prizes, but he just loved playing the game. In the end, he had found himself in a large number of game tokens. Tohda considered this and thought about the prizes, especially the extremely rare Pokemon available. Two of them he had been eyeing were the extremely rare Porygon and the one-time annual special, Castform. This Castform was special because it came already knowing the 'Ice Beam' attack as a special for that time of the year. (Ironically, it was summer) Tohda took a liking to Castform for its simple-cuteness, much like how he picked Slugma. Castform has a very simple personality. Not very out-spoken like Wobbuffet and Porygon-Z, but not quite as alone as Victreebel or Smeargle. Castform is very optimistic, tending to look on the 'sunny' -side of things, keeping positive in battles, even if it's losing.
Moves:
Rain Dance
Ice Beam
Thunder
Weather Ball
Name: Smeargle
Gender: Male
Ability: Own Tempo
Item: Dread Plate (effects the move 'Judgment' )
Short Bio: Smeargle was the last Pokemon Tohda caught that became a part of his permanent team. Tohda spent weeks searching through Clysmi Park (a prairie-like terrain with a game very much like the Safari Zone) for a Smeargle and then actually catching it. He was quite proud when he did, and immediately took to training it. Tohda's first move was for it to Sketch the move Fly. Then he managed to find moves like Dragon Rush and Heal Order through fights. Then one day he was trying to find the perfect move by using a Metronome-using Clefairy when the random move suddenly put out the most powerful and awe-striking move Tohda had ever seen; Judgment. Tohda had Smeargle immediately learn it. Tohda saves Smeargle as a 'secret weapon' only bringing him out as a last resort, and then even only using Judgment as a last resort. Smeargle's personality is....actually, it's unknown. For as long as Tohda has had Smeargle, it hasn't really expressed any emotion. Not so much robot-like, but just...unresponsive. But also not so much as Magcargo in that it seems dumb, Smeargle is quite intelligent, but it rather just watches others as if it's curious as to why they act the way they do. Tohda has tried jumping out at Smeargle, trying to give it a startle...but Smeargle simply gives him a look of, "Okay, then?" without as much as a flinch.
Moves:
Dragon Rush
Heal Order
Fly
Judgment
***NOTE***
~He may often be seen with a Beedrill carrying a brown leather pouch around it's thorax with which he communicates with his friend, Benton, via letters at various intervals during the competition. However, since this Beedrill does not belong to him, never will Tohda use it in battle.
I kinda imagined it like Smeargle swinging his tail and all the little paint-droplets transforming into bees.
Lol, I have a Smeargle named Ace that knows Fly and wing attack and such...he's a part of my bird-themed team in my game
Ha~, I'm equally surprised to see that somebody else is almost as short as Tohda as well...a year younger too. It'd probably help both of them to know that there's someone else around who's pretty short~~
Yeah, when the Johto-Pokemon were released, I loved almost every one of them...Smeargle was one of the favorites. I could just imagine a Smeargle flying around, too....like a Superman-Pokemon.
Only my Smeargle has these fake wings he made from the shed feathers of my bird pokemon...he has 'em taped around his arms. He thinks he's a bird cause he grew up with all my bird pkmn.
Well, Tohda's much shorter than me, standing about 8 inches taller in addition to his 5 ft....however, I still manage to be shorter than quite a few people my age. :l
Yup...half of Tohda's team comes from the 2nd Gen. (it's be one more than half...but Porygon2 DID get an evolution~ )
-Oh, ho, that's quite creative of the little guy!~
Epic Smeargle is Epic. I was expecting at least one with a Legendary signature move, but damn, Judgement? Awesome!
ToddM In reply to Lord-Indigo [2008-10-21 20:41:36 +0000 UTC]
Heh-heh. I'm just glad it's acceptable. Yeah, at first I wasn't going to let it know any legendary signature moves....but I couldn't resist.
The idea of how Smeargle learned Judgment is based on an experience of mine from a time playing Pearl. I came across a wild Clefairy that used Metronome that turned into Roar of Time.
Even better with Event PokΓ©mon moves though - My brother has managed to use Deoxys' Psycho Boost and Darkrai's Dark Void through metronome. Speaking of which, I'm sure there's some Metronomers in the tournament, it'll be interesting to see what they manage to come up with.
Oh, and there's some Dittos about too, Smeagle best watch out for those XD
X3 I'll keep that in mind, thanks for the advice.
Actually, I was looking at the other entries and I was surprised to see that I was the only person using a Smeargle....no other Wobbuffets either.
(Actually, if you want to get technical, no other entrant is using the same Pokes as me...unintentional, but it creates a nice variety)
I think :devbig-bad-complex:'s trainer has a Porygon Z travelling with him, but it's not in his battling team... so yup, you're right, nobody else is using any of the ones you've picked
May your Wobbuffet slay many a Lucario XD
Well, I chose Smeargle because it was cute, THEN made use of it's Sketch move.
And thanks for the compliment, I worked hard to specifically personify them. Much luck to you as well!
