Description
this was done with black ink...the dots were a pain.i do like it though, because i do like celtic knots a lot. also, i like trees.
pretty much everybody who has seen this image has commented that it is the "tree of life", and i guess it could go by that title too. trees often represent life, after all, as do celtic knots. the way knots never have a beginning or end represents the cyclic nature of life.
thanks for taking a look.

if you want a physical copy, you can buy a greeting card (among other things) with this design on it from my site.

not only that but to the celts trees were a central and important thing in daily spritual life - they were part of the language and the magic of celtic ritual- the tree of life is that the representation of the connection between this life and the otherworld-that they are interlinked. and the knot represents (somewhat the original 'string theory') the concept of overlaping intwined time that all exists right now some where in time rather than the common western understanding of a flowing continuous line -
the imediate connection between this illumination and the tree of life is simply that it is beautiful intricate and interesting interpretation of the tree of life-
the fact the branches are without knotwork and it isnt linking suggesta a modern take of it but the symbolisum is obvious - if you are going to use celtic artwork expect people to connect it to celtic culture

...i do?
also, i do know what the tree of life is. i just meant it wasn't my initial intention to draw "the tree of life", just a celtic tree.

This is fantastic. Your knots are amazing. The tree is beautiful as well. I've never been able to make trees come out well. It's something I'd love to get better at. I love how it all comes together. Amazing. I'd love to see more like this!

I love it when people do the work on their knots with their own hands. Somehow it just seems more personal than digital drawing and inking.
I love how you incorporated the knot into the tree's roots, very beautiful!

I love celtic knots! I just wondered if you had the meanings of the knotwork in mind when you drew it... if you turn the two on the sides sideways (point down) they look like the celtic shield... I can't quite place the others, but circles normally have something to do with life... trees definitely do...
