Earth-bending with water-bending techniques. It's liquid rock. Just like lightning-bending requires water-bending techniques to let the energy "flow" through you. Ask Zuko to lava bend. Technacally, Zuko can't bend lava, he bends the fire in it. toph bends the actual lava. Look at bending battle on youtube to see some awesome lava bending!!!
