I was cleaning up my desktop today for the first time in, oh, ever. Came across a bunch of stuff that I wouldn't want to post on its own but is kinda cool enough for me to put in the effort. Here are a couple of inks that didn't quite pass muster, but have interesting bits and pieces.First and third weren't for a class: selkie and then Margaret and William from Hazards of Love, second was from an assignment where I was given three random words and had to make an illustration: Wizard, Crowded, Enigma. This is about 1/3 of the image, the other 2/3 had the enigma, and were also terribly boring.
doot doot hopefully I'll have some new work soon. Vacation is ever so stressful.

As soon as I saw the third image I wondered if it was from Hazards of Love! I love the way you framed the scene with the dark foliage and the horse's body.

Also, a good while back I saw something you had said that inspired me to listen to The Decemberists. Thank you ever so much. <3 If I may say so, I think your illustrations of their work (and heck, your art in general) are of equal caliber to theirs.

I use speedball super black india ink (that's just what it's called haha)-- I like it because it has a little more body than a lot of others, it really gives you a solid looking black as opposed to sinking into the page. Personal preference, though.

I sat there and thought how much the last one looked like Margaret and William, and I was right! Great job!

Everything about the first and last panels is great. They read right away and their tonal balance is precisely awesome. The second panel with the crows took me a bit to figure out what was happening. The crows push back a lot into the background. the scholar fellow is hiding.
