Whee~ I really like Mandarin Fish. They're very cool creatures. I'm not sure I can even give their patterns justice in this form.That said, I am actually quite happy with this picture. It isn't perfect, of course (it never is), but it seems important to just accept flaws and move on after a while. Remember them for the future, but don't get caught up in 'em, otherwise you'll never finish! D:
Speaking of never finishing, I drew the pencil sketch of this picture at the end of last year, and it's been chillin' in my sketchbook every since, even though it's actually one of my favorite pencil drawings I've done... I just had to make him pretty! I think I succeeded, more or less.

Bright colorful things often are extremely poisonous, though.
That's probably precisely why these fish are so colorful.

Yes, that's what I was thinking when I asked. Though the lion fish is pretty poisonous too, although more because its colors help it with camoflauge more than werving as a warning for other fish.

Yeah, but lionfish (and the various related species that are just as poisonous) tend to not actually bother hiding. They just cruise along like a bawse, because almost nothing would dare touch them.

If I were to have a fish tank, I'd actually want two clownfish and a sea anemone... But a mandarinfish would certainly be cool to have!

Maybe not in general pet shops, but in aquarium stores you can buy all kinds of anemone. My roommate when I went to UF had a big fish tank with lots of things. I went with him to the store from time to time. They've got a lot of stuff. (And he had clownfish & an anemone.)
