Description
Continuing with the theme of my other submission today, we have another Feudal Japan inspired merman. This time, I've co-opted ~Chael 's hourglass dolphin merman Cruz and gave him a couple daggers and some convenient clothing to cover his most identifiable markings, so better to blend in later, or some such.
I think this came out pretty well... Done entirely in SAI.

You've really nailed watery environments perfectly! Especially the godfingers in the water!
I can't to backgrounds at all! xD
My favourite part is the part where you are arting.
Do more of that <3333

I want to try to have something new to upload a couple times a week from now on. Just to keep going.
The water thing is surprisingly easy. It's just a gradient with a bit of using the dodge & burn tools in Photoshop.

Yeah, it's so hard to find the time to doodle and draw, so making the time is a hugely important thing.
And yups, KEEP GOING.
It seems (at least for myself) that unless I'm constantly and frequently drawing, after a period of nothingness, when I *do* start drawing again, what spews from my penciltip is utter crap. MUST KEEP ON DOODLIN'
Photoshop :ew:

It's hard to find the time when there are so many other commitments that I have.
For this picture, that is in fact the only thing I used photoshop for. (Well, that, and saving it as a smaller image...the original size is 2-3 times larger.)

But Takei is always appropriate! XD
It was just the first thing I thought of with a comment like that.

Star Trek is great, but Takei himself is amazing.

Hmm, that's not actually the reference I used. But I figure there'd probably be more than one hourglass dolphin, so those details would be harder to single out.

I linked it because I had no idea what you used as a reference. :/
True, true. The neck thing at least doesn't stand out anywhere near as much as the arms do.

This was the reference: [link]
And the arm stuff was for fanciness. Mostly I just didn't feel like giving him a shirt thing.

I think the ref I used was made in the last year, whereas the one you found was... 2004. It's been a little while!

Quite. I just browsed a particular gallery folder of thumbnails for something clear. :/
