Description I checked out the Finnish stage musical version of the Who's Tommy the rock opera. And I liked it. A lot.

So:
Wicked Uncle Ernie, TOMMY, and Cousin Kevin
(the Finnish version style above and Ken Russel's movie stuff, including Keith Moon, Roger Daltrey and Paul Nicholas, below).

"That deaf, dumb, and blind kid sure plays a mean pinball!"

Characters by The Who and some other dudes.

Absolutely fantastic.

I have to admit, I laughed aloud at the expression on either Tommy's face.

Uncle Ernie - it's always a pleasure to draw him. Too bad the orginal Ernie is upside down.

Love it! That movie is my favorite, and I haven't seen any of the stage musicals but watched clips of them. It's very cool to see the comparisons.

Oh thanks! : D Tommy rules! And you'll bet that I was surprised when, about a year ago, I heard for the first time they were going to do that musical in Finland. I think it was the most improbable thing to happen. But I'm glad they did it, otherwise I think I wouldn't ever had seen Tommy on stage. Hopefully you too run across the stage version some day! : )

I like the song "Pinball Wizard", but the film "Tommy" seems a little odd to me. Your drawing is very good, by the way. Incidentally, if you had to wear hearing aids, (as I believe at least one member of The Who does now) would you cover them with your hair, and why?

Thanks!
I also think that the original album, the wonderful music of The Who, is the main point and the best version of Tommy. But I've got used to the film, too, altough it really is occationally so psychedelic that it's even a bit distracting. But it has its great moments too, and I like it. : D

And this hearing aid issue... If I had to wear hearing aids I think I wouldn't tend to cover them with hair, there isn't any reason why I should. If I needed the hearing aids, they'd belong in my character and their visibility would be ok. : )

Actually, I am more of a Beatles fan, but you maybe aware of the Who's album "Live at Leeds"... well, I live in Leeds! (And have done all my life!) What do you think about the Who's song "I can see for miles and miles..."? It was played on the radio over here a few weeks ago, and my mum just so happned to be visiting, and I said to her, "I know who this is" And she said, "Well, go on; surprise me"!

The Beatles is one of my favourite bands, too. Great music they have! : D And about fortnight ago there was "The Beatles night" on some Finnish radio channel: beatles music, covers, interviews and stuff from midnight till the small hours. It was very epic Beatles experience although I managed to stay awake only till three am. : )

"I can see for miles" is a magnificent song! Energetic, epic and interesting. I could say it's one of my favourite The Who songs. Me and my smaller sister once even made a very lousy music video based on it. Oh dear. But the song rocks! : D

I could choose about 8 or 9 songs by the Beatles as my "favourite" song, but I would put "A day in the life" in my top 2 each time! That climax.... Which is your favourite?

Hmm, this is a difficult one... Well, at the moment, Day Tripper is one of my top Beatles songs, because it's been ringing in my head since I heard it in The Beatles Story (some history under this scribble: [link] ) My all time Beatles favourites are propably Across the universe, Come Together, Eleanor Rigby, Lucy in the sky with diamonds, Fixing a hole, Tomorrow Never Knows, While my guitar gently weeps, I am the Walrus and Strawberry Fields... Oh dear what a list! 8O and A day in the life is also great! These guys are just way too good! : D

I DID say I could choose 8 or 9 .... others I like (that are different from the ones you've chosen!) are Paperback Writer, She's Leaving Home (etc. etc.) True story... I live in Leeds, which is a city just about 200 miles north of London in the UK, and in 1986, I started a job where my boss was actually from Liverpool (but must have been one of the very few people from there not not like The Beatles!). Anyway, about ten days after I started this job, I was wearing a tie that was maroon in colour, and my boss said to me, "Come on, Martyn, didn't you know I'm an Everton [the 'other' soccer team that plays in Liverpool and they wear blue jerseys, whereas Liverpool wear red jerseys] fan?" So I told him that I would not wear that tie too often. Anyway, not long after, he was wearing a tie that was quite clearly more red than mine, and I said to him (in jest, like he had said what he did to me), "You complained about MY tie!".... to which he replied, "Well, it's OK if you're a boss"!. Actually in the three-and-a-half years till the company went bankrupt, I don't ever recall him wearing that tie again!

Haha! Great favourites you have there, I must agree with them, too! : ) And the story is also great! Luckily the boss seemed to have learnt his lesson. : D
