Traditional copy of Twokind's flora's portrait. ([link] ) I did pretty good with this one... with.. of course, a few exceptions...The only major issue is I've made the head a bit too small... you probably didn't notice it until I pointed it out..
The other thing is that uh.. mess on the right half. I have absolutely no idea what happened there, I just opened up my sketchbook one day and BAM! bunch of dark splotches everywhere that won't erase. I battled with them but inevitably just gave up... I'm not going to waste a picture like this just because of some untrustworthy graphite, so I uploaded it anyway.
aaaand other gibbens... I'll go upload this to groups and such at a later date.. but.. for now my watchers and anyone that visits can enjoy it.
Critiques on because this is one of those better pictures.

Thanks! The shading can take several hours depending on the picture and the variations in the coloring.. and it doesn't help that I do everything in pencil.. EVERYTHING.. that adds some time, especially since I like to smooth it out and buff the shading.

Shading really is a big burden to do, but the result definitely overweighs the time and effort. Definitely when you use pencils, since you're using only one color. I was getting to the idea of smoothening my shaded colors but I enjoy them how they turn out.

I don't particularly like using darker pencils.. and I never switch pencils when I'm drawing. This is because my technique of shading would be useless if I switched the type of graphite used half way through.

Definitely. Nothing worse that two types of lead for a picture with shading.

It just.. it doesn't mix, it doesn't buff right.. it kinda smears with the other graphite.. its just.. yuck.

You got it spot on! I was starting on a King Adelaide sketch, but I worked on the outline with a 0.7 Target bought pencil along with shading in wit a 0.9 Papermate. The two leads mixed horrendously!

Well Tom, I'll get this out of the way first, to start the idea is rather generic and done a lot before hand. Though that isn't necessarily a bad thing as long as you can make it fresh. The shading and tones are very nice and the actual design is good due to the overall appearance of Flora. I felt that her hair seems to be the strongest point of the drawing and you appear to have shown this rather well so kudos. And most importantly....

I've been less then creative recently, and I'm constantly required to produce good-quality art per week for my classes, and.. well.. the copies I do all generally look great.. so whenever I can't come up with something, I find a picture and do this instead.
If anything, less for originality.. but thanks for the generosity! XD

Excellent job with this one! I really couldn't see an issue with the size of her head even with you pointing it out, but she's too cute to worry about things like that.
