Description Aaron McCoy on the lyra photographed by Tom Clark

This is an image from my Spontaneity Master Class on nude modeling that I teach under the auspices of the Sketch Cabaret group. The participants were all paired off with one serving as the stylist/artist and the other as the model. With one hour to prepare they were then given about 30 minutes on stage to present their work while I took pictures and all of us gave direction. This was Aaron's first time on the lyra and he took to it as if a seasoned pro, resulting in images that have made it into my permanent collections.

The purpose of these workshops, which will be available across the US this year, is to offer an introduction to the world of fine art nudes specifically geared to models, artists and photographers. If you're interested in bringing my Spontaneity Master Class to your area please contact me privately for information.

I think he was as surprised as any of the rest of us - he took to it like he'd been on it forever. He's a natural athlete and has a lot of natural grace in his body and in his movements - a wonderful combination. I love working with him.

Wow, an amazing capture of muscle in still motion, so to speak. The slight lighting on the backdrop blending into the model's highlighted body does the trick very well. Though I know it is no trick at all, but a seasoned, well trained capture. Bravo! The class does sound interesting.

Thank you! When muscle and grace come together in the same place it's quite inspiring and beautiful. Aaron is a treasure.

Aaron is a natural athlete, more than just a guy with a nice body. This was his first time on the lyra but you would never have known it. I have more plans for him on that hoop.

Thanks Paul. I'm very happy with the color pallet here. I never know going into the post work what's going to happen. I don't have a template that I throw down on every piece; each one just evolves on its own until something in me says yes, I like that.

i completely understand when i approach a painting i start with a basic idea but in the end its a process of evolution

Wonderful Light and movement Tom !

Thanks Sami. He was spinning slowly while I was shooting so it was more about movement than a static pose, which is what I like whether it's indoors or out. Too cold to do nudes outdoors in Utah this time of year so I work with my lights indoors and try to keep things interesting. There's no formula, just an openness to creativity.

WOW! I wish this could be enlarged. Is this in a circus, and is he a circus performer? This photo is eye-catching, interesting, and beautiful!

Aaron is just very strong and athletic - he'd never been on a lyra before this but took to it like a seasoned pro. The image is available as a print btw.
