I think the shadows and symmetry really make this piece! I am so annoyed by the assumptions about the model in other comments. Every time there is a skinny model people assume she's sick and are turned off, You can tell she isn't even too skinny, she does have belly fat, it's just the pose she's in. Sheesh. Nice photograph. Which is what is by the artist. Not the model...

Although, I really hope thats her sucking in her stomach and not be anorexic. Otherwise, I'd say this is an absolutely disgusting image.
I don't know her lifestyle or diet, but I'm going to say she's just promoting a bad image to other women. And that is skinny and starved is key. Which is totally unrealistic. Yeah, this sounds like some feminist bull crap, but as a guy, I stand by it as cheesy and idealistic as it sounds.

Masterful image with the use of angle to achieve a sharp starkness of the shadows while the skin maintains a silky appearence. I vacillate between fascinated and disturbed as I go between the image and the subject, but what ever I feel, I definatly FEEL.

I agree with a few other comments left before. I do not find this picture, with it's lacking title and description, appealing at all.
I'm a beginning photographer, so I probably understand more than most the struggle it is to get proper lighting and set up to get such a picture. But I believe that this picture is too... little. There's not enough 'Oomph' from the model to really counteract the dark, deep shadows that are shown in her pelvic bones.
She looks too little to really have this be a decent picture. Photographer trend or not.

I can't stop looking at this picture. The shadows really do make the model appear emaciated and sickly, but it somehow makes it look beautiful, not repulsive.
