It should go to the photomanipulation or the darkroom subcategory if you ask me, since the symmetry is fake. It's mirrored and then camouflaged a bit with the use of a clone stamp tool.
The pose, and the game that the light and shadows play on that one half is amazing though...

You say the symmetry is fake. I didn't notice that at first. But as I look carefully, it seems as if you are true. If you were called into court and asked to give evidence to support your view, what would you say or do? I ask because I am curious and I am not as skilled technically as you.

heh, I'm not much "technically skilled" myself, but it's pretty easy to check it out.
Open the photo in any photo-editing application, select either left or right half of the photo, copy it, paste it as a new layer, mirror it (flip horizontally), and move it to the other half of the photo, using the contours as the alignment guides.
Toggling the visibility of the newly created layer would reveal that (it should be slightly rotated and that) the texture of the skin is identical on the both halves, with the excuse of the belly-button area and only a several tiny regions which were probably edited using the clone-stamp tool or something...

Why do you feel sorry for her? You don't know if she's bullimic. I'm natural slim, and my hipbones and ribs look exactly the same in that posture.

I'm neither model nor contorsionist; if you're young, that posture is not so tricky, believe me.
It's the light and high contrast which gives it a strange look. You just have to watch the other pics in Tomas' gallery to realize that his models are thin, but they certainly are not just skin and bones. There's nothing in them that suggests any eating disorder, that's what I was saying.

Odd picture, very alien. There is blatent nudity but nothing sexual. If anything she is unatractive and cold. It's a great picture and/or manipulation because it rocks your perseption of how you should be feeling. She has become a total object.
And well yeah she is skinny, but it's far from glamourous or sexy, it's just design so no fowl on the play.

I'm sorry, I just find this a disturbing and unappealling image.
While I understand the technical knowledge required to produce such a shot, the final result, especially without any comment from the artist to justify his use of such a model, is very unsettling.
