If you had said nothing, I would have thought these clouds were photo manipulated. Very weird indeed.

Altocumulus lenticularis. At least the bottom one.
But if taken the same time, both.

woooow, the are sweet!!!!
We had something similar down in Melbourne yesterday (crappy weather) but it was clearly formed by the wind.. And didn't look as cool as those!!

Well, thanks for the dedication.
The clouds in the bottom image appear to be Lenticular [link] I used to live at the base of a fairly substantial mountain and saw formations like this occasionally.
The upper picture reminded me of tornado-forming clouds--they look so angry. I think this may be a mammatus cloud. Here's a sunset image of this type of cloud: [link] (this whole site looks like it has some great images)
Textbooks, etc. love these type of images. Keep your camera ready.
Clouds as the lone subject of an image are liked by advertisers as backgrounds for some commercial message.
But, an image caption is always helped by details.
Thanks again for thinking of me.

I saw pics of those clouds on my boyfriend's blog once, and I'm still amazed with their shapes.
Unfortunately, that kind of clouds never seemed to appear here .

I think I read in some science magazine... probably new-scientist that the bottom set are called lantern clouds or genie clouds... something along those lines.

Those are weird-looking clouds indeed! They look kind of like UFOs
Just a suggestion; perhaps you should move this to your scraps, if it's not meant to be artistic?
