Description
This is when it started to get really messy. Took forever to work this out and I'm still not happy with it. Hangyamon subject to change as I try and decide if I need it here or want it in aquan and MetalPiranhamon is basically a placeholder due to not having a better option.Comments and critiques (and help) very much appreciated.
I don't own Digimon or Bandai's images.

Hmm, yeah... Well, I'll help if I can, though most of it is my personal opinion or the original V-Pet or Pendulum series.
I don't think Crabmon belongs on this one, I think he'd be better off in the Aquatic one, same with Syakomon. Now with that said, these are some opinions I have...
Insectoids:
Tentomon -> Kabuterimon -> etc etc.
Tentomon -> Kuwagamon -> etc etc. (basis for this: Digimon World, where you have Kunemon as the playable replacement for Tentomon, also the cards)
I sometimes use Shellmon and Musyamon as champ forms for Kunemon, though those are pretty weird for him even I have to admit (basis is mostly just V-pet and cards). Otherwise, Snimon and Dokugumon seem allright for him. Personally I like to stick Snimon onto Dokunemon, even though he's a color clone (which I also try to avoid), and I associate Dokugumon sort of with Palmon for some reason (probably the cards also).
Aquatic:
Crabmon -> Coelamon -> Divermon -> Plesiomon
Crabmon -> Ebidramon -> Scorpiomon -> Plesiomon (I've always liked Scorpiomon for Plesiomon; they sort of have similar physiology and silhouettes if you look past the fact that the former is an arthropod and the latter is a reptile.)
See also my suggestions for the Mech family.

To be honest I ignored the cads completely in the creation of these, for simplicity sake. Plus a lot of the card evolution are just plain dumb (who comes up with these evolutions, seriously?
But yeah, this one was and still is a complete nightmare. When it boils down to it, it is all the Water-"type"'s fault for having so many god-damn child-levels. I mean, some of them I struggle to get 3, but water has 5 of the damn things. It also has an excess of ultimates and too many full evolution sets. So yeah, I had to break them up somewhere and Crab-etc. line of invertebrates fit better than any of the others did in anything else.

Mm, I get you there, and I admit that the cards don't make a lot of sense half the time. I really only looked at the earliest cards, which seemed to pull inspiration from the V-pets... so I would use the cards as a reference for mons that weren't in the V-pet, like Musyamon and Dokugumon.
Also, don't feel like you HAVE to sort all the aquatic guys with aquatic guys, insect guys with insect guys, and so forth either. In the V-pet, you have insects and animals coming from the same in-training stage, (Tokomon -> Patamon/Kunemon, Motimon -> Tentomon/Otamamon, etc) so you could maybe find ways to make that work if you're willing to revise some stuff.
One thought I had that might be neat is to have Patamon/Kunemon/Goblimon coming from Tokomon as a different family, where you have Patamon -> Angemon line at the top, then Unimon next to top, Musyamon in the middle going to Asuramon, then Ogremon -> whoever, and Kunemon with Flymon at the bottom or something. Ogremon and Unimon both turn into Asuramon in the first incarnation of the card, and Musyamon is his primary champ stage, so that sort of worked in my head (although Kunemon -> Ogremon is awkward I admit).
...I dunno why I'm describing it in such depth and citing the cards after you just said you don't reference them, lawl. Just thinking out loud I suppose.

I have certainly thought of different options and Tokomon to Patamon and Kunemon was one thought early on. It just didn't really work for me in the end. I like the angel/devil dynamic of Patamon and PicoDevimon.

Hey, what program did you use to organize this (and where'd you get all the Digimon pics)?

I used paint to make the original background and then photoshop for everything else. Most of the Digimon images are from Bandai's official Digimon Reference Book.
