Description
Caihong juji
Pencil, 2018
Some of the claims made about this animal in the paper (proportionally longest wing and leg feathers of any paravian) are clearly not right. Those tail feathers are real long though.

Awesome job! Isn't this the oldest feathered dinosaur known (161 mya)?

Scansoriopteryx is 165-156 mya, Caihong is 161. So it's not the oldest known feathered dinosaur with impressions.

The horns might actually be a taphonomic artefact and were possibly horizontal, giving the eagle eye look to this species. But we are not sure yet. I am also surprised by how large the head looks compared to the body. Still, a very competent reconstruction as always!

Yeah the way the skull was crushed made it look smaller than it would have been in reality.

So there would still have some protuberance? Only smaller?
