Description My first digital painting/colouring work. C&C would be greatly appreciated, really enjoyed doing this one - took about 6-7hrs to paint in Photoshop, learned loads doing it! Looking forward to the next attempt.. :-P

Great work! Maybe some harder edges in the color next time seeing as how it would be a shiny surface?

I thought about it, but was going more for the painterly style render of Adi Granov than hard cuts - Will have a play next time tho - Cheers for the props man

Indeed! Always liked the idea of a drunk basically flying a man sized fighter jet suit lol

are there any laws on drunk driving super-power suits?

if there are, it's another fine example of the 'fun police' ruining everything. Frist running with scissors, now flying a super-suit drunk - they keep stealing all the fun!!

This is great, it immediately caught my eye x) The way he's holding the glass suits him. I'm wondering what sort of brush you used for the shading? And how did you do the lineart? I think the picture might benefit if you varied the lineart a little, changing the pressure a bit (although it looks like you've done that in some places.) The hand looks a little weird, but that might just be because it's at a neat angle. The head also appears a bit long.. but other than that, I think you did really well with the detail, coloring, and position : o)

Thanks dude! The rendering was done with a Windsor Newton Series 7 no.2 brush, with watered Black Magic ink and then rendered in pencil. I used the fairly flat lineweight to try and maintain the mechanical feel to the suit but I agree, I think it lacks a bit of pop.

Ah, I see what you were getting at there. I've never used those mediums so there's not much I can tell ya there, but the picture turned out great : o)

Very nicely done! Love the pose, and great job with the foreshortening on his arm. The colors are spot on, with great shading and detail. You did a fantastic job!

Thanks man - I was aiming for that slightly washed out effect, though the rendering itself is all inkwash and pencil (which is in another deviation..) and then I multiplied up the layers and played with dodge and burns before adding a linear dodge layer for highlights.

This came out really well dude! Fair play to ya for taking a stab at it. Obviously you clearly have an understanding of how light hits different surfaces and textures which probably made the transition to colouring it a bit easier... but probably not much!

So yeah, this is great and i look forward to seeing more!

Wow, thanks dude! I think that was one of the hardest bits, as well as starting to learn the mystery that is Photoshop! The Imagine FX mag/site has been a tremendous help - I just can't believe I stuck with it as every time I've tried before I do about 5 minutes then throw the tablet down and reach for a pencil. *sighs* Maturity approaches! lol

I have a few Image FX mags but then i started to decline in my artwork. Now that i'm back into it again it might be worth picking up a copy or two again. Although i'm not quite ready to make a move to digital colouring just yet. I'm happy enough to work on my lineart and commission others to colour it.

All in all though you should stick at the colouring gig cos this is a strong start. Good luck with it.

Whoops, I can see that now!! I always think of Twisted Toyfare Theatre Iron Man where he's just a drunk loon! Still, a very good pic!
