You could say: Okay that is a simple painting, less details and so on  BUT !!!

I love it ! I saw this painting and I had to drag and trop it into my list of favourites! The lightning is so natural and feels right, you focused the detail on the important areas in your painting: The tower

I will now browse your gallery.

Have a nice day!

Pretty cool! I could imagine traveling there and resting for a picnic and taking pictures. I'd like to see if there's a way inside the tower. Maybe there is something interesting like old books or paintings or magic stuff.

I really love this, it reminds me a bit of the castle tower from Highlander where Clancy Brown fought Sean Connery to the death but on a much more peaceful day.

Well isn't that a fine location for a tower. I love the countryside surrounding it as well.

Yeah. I think it would have been awesome to be a guard on this tower and enjoying the view all day.

This actually reminds me of a place I once passed by when talking a walk in the woods nearby. There were a few old stone buildings and bunkers, looks quite a bit like the scenery you painted here! Great work too, I really love the atmosphere.
And if I may ask, do you just paint these freehand or do you work with a perspective grid? Just wondering ^^

That sounds like you had a wonderful walk. I don't work with a perspective grid but for some things like ellipses I need to use a tool to get it right. When adding details or textures I also use perspective.

It was a wonderful walk indeed!
Thank you for the explanation. I myself am also trying to draw scenery but more buildings and interior; it's quite difficult but also very fun. I love hearing from other's experience so your reply is very appreciated

I've been watching your videos all morning as soon as I saw this come through my feed. Wow. I'd love to be able to paint digitally. Do you have a tutorial or resource and how to use your brushes and what brushes you use? That's the part I struggle with getting the right effects and textures with the brushes.

All your stuff is incredible

Beautiful! Scenes like this always make me curious about the setting's history. A run-down watchtower in the middle of what looks like a wheat field is very intriguing.

I love how the detail and complexity does start in the foreground and fade back, but rather is concentrated where you're directing the viewer's eye

This makes me want to play Witcher 3 for some reason. It is gorgeous though it seems kind of simple yet stunningly detailed all at once.

Fairy-Slayer [2016-06-05 22:17:28 +0000 UTC]

It looks like such a beautiful country, with all that lush greenery and wonderful little trees dotting the countryside. No doubt there used to be a threat of attack from the neighboring lands, but peace was made centuries ago and now the tower is falling to pieces, soon to be faded from memory just like the hostilities of the past. For now, it's a reminder of just how much better life is.

I love the storybook style, especially with the harder shading, and the curved perspective on the clouds enhances the feelings of vastness on this beautiful land. Darker clouds close up also highlight the summer feeling with a risk of sudden thunderstorms here and there, but not a big problem by any stretch. Sweet work.

Well I'm bored so I might as well be the first to add a story.
---
The tower once stood guard against rival kingdoms. It watched as commoners and nobles alike slaughtered each other with shrieking arrows, crushing maces, piercing spears and razor edged swords. However centuries passed and the tower began to crumble along with the realms that clashed on the surrounding fields. Eventually a farmer would buy some of the surrounding land. The farmer would plant wheat which would be harvested and sold for coin. For generations the farmer's family would live in relative comfort. Sons and daughters would play in the fields, the fields which allowed them to live.
---
In all due seriousness though nice job. I really do love the colour scheme that you used.
