Oh man. It's like looking at hieroglyphics, looking at these pages, lol. I see you're perusing my gallery.
=O Ohnoes. Treat your eyes nice... they have to last the rest of your life. @A@;; But I do that too. Everyone in my family has glasses except for me, so I've just kind of accepted the fact that I'll have them when I'm older. X3

I don't know personally- but I do rather like having good vision. Plus, my brother says contacts are itchy...
(Thank you!!)

Yeah, I mean it when I say they suck. Contacts do, too. I hate glasses because they break easily, and they get dirty REAL easily. I hate contacts because you have to constantly buy more, and they're pretty expensive, not to mention they tear easily. That's why when i'm old enough, i'm going to get laser eye surgery.
About the comic, it's pretty good! The drawing's certainly creative, and I like how the two argue despite how they feel. Keep it up!

@A@ Sounds like a real pain. (Especially the tearing contacts. That sounds like it could get messy.) Just think, though-- when you're old enough to get the laser surgery, the technology for it is going to be even better! (How old do you have to be to get laser surgery, anyway? Didn't know there was an age requirement but it makes sense.)
Yay, thanks! That's one of my favorite dynamics of their relationship, so you'll definitely see more of it.

Yeah, it is a big pain. -_-; I have to wear both, contacts during the morning and afternoon, and glasses during the evening. Glasses are a major pain to clean, because no matter how much you clean them, there will ALWAYS be a speck on them. Yeah, there is an age. You have to be 18. Kind of obvious, since 18 is the limit for almost everything (voting, going to college, being able to join the military) Luckily, I only have to wait 1 1/2 years for my surgery. Actually, less than that. Seriously, i've been stuck with glasses and contacts since I was a year old, I want to be rid of them. And what sucks even more is that my optometrist said that even with the surgery, I won't have perfect vision. I'll only have 20-30, which means I'll still occasionally need glasses. -_-;
Cool! That would definitely seem like an awesome concept for their relationship. Thanks for making the comics! (note: Sorry for any spelling incorrections you may find. I'm using a different keyboard than what i'm used to)

Occasionally is better than all the time, though... Would it just be for, like, driving and stuff?
HEY! You've actually helped a lot. There was an episode where Bubbles had to wear corrective glasses. At the end of the episode, Buttercup accidentally sent an eye-beam into a magnifying glass, which sent the beam into Bubbles's eyes, correcting her vision. I wanted to make it her secret that she had to occasionally wear glasses, but now I know I'm not just making up that possibility. I had no idea laser surgery worked like that! Thank you for the info!
(Psh- spelling. I hardly even notice it. )

I guess....it's just that, for atleast one moment in my life, I want to be able to do something with my own eyes, without having to use something else. You get what i'm saying?
Oh, uh, sure thing! Yeah, I remember episodes from those days when I was a little kid. Dexter's Laboratory, Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, Ed Edd n' Eddy, Courage the Cowardly Dog......(sniff)....those were the days.....The kids today are stuck with utter crap. I really do feel sorry for them.
(cool. Yeah, I don't really care about spelling either. I was just giving a heads up)

Yeah... I couldn't even imagine depending on glasses... Maybe the technology will improve by the time you can get the surgery and there'll be more of a chance for you to have 20-20 vision. I hope it all goes well for you when it happens. ^_^
I agree. The quality of cartoons has declined... but I think there are some that shine through, so not all hope is lost. (But I still think we had the best decade of cartoons, lol.)

KillerMaverick In reply to TookishPerian [2010-05-18 02:11:34 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I hope it does improve. Because I was stuck with glasses since I was a toddler, I think I might be a little anxious. Thanks for the support!
Well, there are shows today that are good, but none of them are cartoons, in my opinion. I remember with the shows back then, they all had thought put into them, you know, they actually thought of the dialogue, and had some pretty funny moments. You notice that in today's cartoons, it's mostly running, screaming, or just random gags that hold no special point. If you want, I can tell you how I envision all of the shows today. But only if you want me to.

Not only that, but a lot are entirely digital. And it just doesn't flow as well... I'd like to hear your opinion! We've been having a pretty good conversation so far.

Alright, better get a snack or something, because this is going to take a while. (note: If anyone that is reading this likes the shows I'm going to mention, please don't take offense. I am simply voicing my opinion)
1. Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack.
My Lord, Cartoon Network! What have you done!! This show, is HORRIBLE. I mean it. You know what they do for the majority of the show? Screaming, and running. Not to mention that Flapjack kid does those weird....wave....motion....things, I don't know, I think it's creepy. Also, if I have to hear 'ADVENTURE!!!' one more time, I'll throw my tv out the window. Not to mention the visuals are absolutely horrifying. I mean literally horrifying! They usually show this scary image on the show along with someone screaming. What, are they trying to entertain the kids (hah!), or trying to scar them for life?! I seriously don't know what they're trying to pull.
(rating: 2/10)
2. Johnny Test
Well, this show doesn't seem that bad. It stars this blond haired, blue eyed kid who messes up stuff in the lab of his red haired, blueish-green eyed sibling geniuses, a lab that seems like it shouldn't fit in the house, there's also a bio-engineered animal who is with the siblings who all sometimes turn into super-heroes, and have an arch-enemy, who is also a genius and is in love with one of the siblings, and occasionally joins up with them for a certain cause. That sounds incredible!! I can't wai-hold on a second, doesn't that sound familiar? Hmmm.....oh, yeah! That sounds exactly like the premise of DEXTER'S LABORATORY!!!! I'm serious, just look!
Blond-haired, blue eyed teen that messes in sibling's lab:
Johnny Test>>>Dee Dee
Red-haired, blue-green eyed geniuses
Susan and Mary Test>>>Dexter
Genetically-engineered animal
Dukey>>>Monkey
Large lab that seems like it shouldn't fit in a modern-day household
Test Lab>>>Dexter's Lab
Arch villain who is just as smart and has a crush on one of the siblings
Bling-Bling boy>>>Mandark
Super hero teams
Johnny X and his dog (and sometimes the other siblings)>>>Dexter's family and monkey
Yeah, that's right, this show has absolutely NO ORIGINAL PREMISE! And I don't mean like take a few things without crediting this show first, I mean FLAT OUT COPY IT!! They don't even do it right!! Same case with Flapjack, if I have to hear, 'Whoah, didn't see that coming!' One more time, I'm chucking my tv.
(rating:0/10) (NO ORIGINALITY)
Hold on, I'll get back to this.

Aaah! Okay! Sorry it took so long before replying. I wanted to reply seriously and I haven't had the time recently. >_>;;
No offense taken! This is a very interesting discussion. I like both of those shows, but I can only watch them every once in a while... I think my main problem with them is that they are just fad cartoons that won't leave too much of a lasting impression if they continue the way they do. They cater to what kids are into today. I think the attention span of children has changed dramatically within the past ten years because of the rapid rate of technological advances.
Flapjack plots are weak, I agree. I don't like that the show feels like the main characters are no closer to their main goal (reaching Candied Island) than they were in episode 1. Although, there are some things I do appreciate about the show. Van-Orman is a native Floridian and bases a lot of the things in the show with his experience as a kid. I can relate, being from Florida. Floridians are weird, by default. The other thing I REALLY appreciate about the show is that they still draw most of the show by hand! A lot of cartoons (including Dexter and the PPG) lost their organic feel when they switched over to digital creation. I know it speeds up the process of production, but I think a degree of quality was lost.
I totally think you're right with Johnny Test and the Dexter Lab thing. Also, Johnny Test is an obvious pun on Johnny Quest, so that show was kind of fail on the originality meter to begin with, lol. And I don't like that the show looks entirely digital. I try not to let that stop me from watching a show, but this show... the movement is very stiff. I'll admit, I do like the writing-- or, at least, the one liners. That seems to be the IT thing right now- one liners. Ben 10 and Generator Rex are full of them.

Don't worry about it. I'm caught up in work and stuff too. -_-;
I...have to agree with you on the technology thing. Dear Lord, I may sound old when I say this (i'm 16), but these kids should have been raised during OUR childhood. Seriously, remember those days? When cartoons actually made sense? (sigh) Just goes to show not all good things last forever. Also, I said the same thing about technology the other day. We're expanding too fast! I liked it better when cartoons were actually drawn. I miss my childhood. T.T
Yes, I have to agree right there, where it's actually drawn, and that much I can accept, but still, atleast with the old shows thought was put into what they had to do, like certain dialogue, actions, etc. I mean, really, is there one episode today that doesn't have a (bad) running gag that they do in EVERY episode? In flapjack, it's Flapjack yelling adventure, the Johnny Test show with the 'didn't see that coming' gimmick (i'm still having homicidal thoughts because of how overused that phrase is DX), and so on. I don't know, I'm a 90's cartoon person. Oh, you're a Floridian? Well, i'm sorta, half-Floridian, half-North Carolinian, considering that's where my parents were from. Also considering I used to live in Florida >_>.
Yeah, one liners is the thing this day of age.....great, we're practically living in the age where people are accepting the movie Batman and Robn (1997). (facepalm) That movie....had so many bad puns, that it is regarded as the worst batman movie today. What's worse is that it seems to have left a legacy with the modern cartoons. Makes me scared for the future.

Sorry about that. Well, back to this.
3. Chowder
Honestly, i'm not that irate towards this show. I dunno, it's just not as annoying as Flapjack.....but it is still annoying, don't get me wrong. I just don't really get it. Like Flapjack, not a lot of thought was put into it. It's just random. Very, very RANDOM. I'm lost half of the time because I don't get what's going on. Still, this show is innocent enough, so I can't be that mad at it.

4. TDI (Total Drama Island)
Well, this show is okay, in my opinion. It's just that, with all of the crotch-hits, foul language, suggestive themes, and overall older rating, I don't see how this can be on a kid's network. It's just not suitable. Sure, I find myself laughing in this, but I still worry for the younger generation. It's a good show, but just too suggestive for a kid's network.

5. TDA (Total Drama Action)
It sucks. Next show.

6. Ben 10: Alien Force
I'll be honest, I wasn't really into Ben10. Still, I prefer the first Ben10 to this one. The previous Ben10 was witty, different with every episode, and had a sort of childlike charm added to it. This show, it took all of that away. It replaced it with seriousness that should not belong in this type of show. I'm also not really into the old characters, and I'm kind of missing the aliens from the first Ben10. So really, I can't find myself enjoying this.
(rating: 5/10)
7. Batman: Brave and The Bold)
Listen to this: Batman, the dark crusader, the gotham knight, being put into a bright, cheery and colorful world with childlike enemies, as well as a ridiculous design for his costume, and a bunch of cliche catchphrases. Like the 60's batman......crap. Now listen, you see how successful Batman is today? You know, the one in the dark, gritty world with the in-depth villains, the awesome gadgets, the fun action moments, the crazy characters, and everything good that made the batman today awesome? Well, why the crap would you revert to the colorful and playful batman? It just doesn't fit!! As a DC fan, I am deeply disappointed.

8. World's Dumbest
Alright, this is actually a show I like, no, love! This show, unlike the rest, is very funny! Granted, it's not really a kid's show, but it's still well thought-out, also has several clever hosts to add up to the list! It's also pretty funny to see the contestants of the list. Add the commentary of the hosts, and special microsoft paint add-ons, and you'll find yourself at the hospital from a heart attack for laughing so hard. It's witty, good to look at, and you'll find you self watching the show again and again.
(rating: 9/10) (critic's choice)
9. 6teen
This show, I find kind of meaningless. Why make a show about everyone's daily life? We get to experience it already in real life, only thing it doesn't add up to the tv bill. The characters are also kind of bland, you know, you expect them to act the way they do just by looking at them. This show just isn't that special to me. I don't know, it's just me.....and my friends, they hate it too.
(rating: 5/10)
10. Stoked
Honestly, I've seen enough new shows already, so I just avoid this one entirely.

Well, that's all I can think of. If there are any I miss, just tell me. Thanks for hearing me out!
